EBD The Bierzo (Adebi) Diabetic Association commemorated on November 14 the World Diabetes Day.For this purpose, the institution organized multiple acts focused on sensitizing and raising awareness among Bierzo's population about the importance of this disease.

One more year, the Association, in collaboration with the Hospital del Bierzo, held different colloquium talks on November 12, 13 and 14.Under the motto "Healthy Life and Diabetes", the conferences aimed to educate and promote diabetological training, as well as favor the prevention and early detection of diabetes.

Today, this pathology affects, only in Spain, more than five million people, of which about two million are still diagnosed. In this sense, the speakers recalled the importance of detecting diabetes in time and applying proper treatment, affecting that more annual victims are charged than such serious diseases as AIDS or cancer.

In addition, Adebi, together with the Ponferrada Primary Care Management, inaugurated World Diabetes Day with several stand located in the Primary Care Health Centers of the Bercian capital.Throughout the morning, health professionals performed the Fondrisk test to all the people who were interested, while the members of the association explained that this test is the one employed to prevent type II diabetes.

The municipalities of Bierzo, Blue for Diabetes

Several municipalities of the region, including the City of Ponferrada, Bembibre, Camponaraya and Toreno, illuminated their blue facades last Friday at the request of Adebi to celebrate the 2014 DMD. Since 1991, the International Federation of Diabetics celebrates 14November the World Diabetes Day, represented by the blue color. In addition, to close the events of the day, Adebi celebrated its traditional annual dinner.

I like this initiative, especially to train diabetic people, training in hospitals should be more enhanced.Recycling and training courses should be carried out, the more you know about your diabetes, the better you can take care of yourself.
