The Councilor for Parties, Commerce and Consumption, Pedro Llamas, the Chief Endocrinology of the Hospital de León, Isidoro Cano, and the president of the Association of Diabetics of León, have been in charge of presenting today the Colloquium talk 'Coexistence with diabetes:Individualization of treatment ', which will be held in the Municipal Assembly Hall of Alfonso V Street on Monday, November 14, at 8:00 p.m., on the occasion of World Diabetes Day.

This talk is part of the activities promoted by the City Council of León within the 'León healthy city' program, whose main objective, according to Pedro Llamas, is "the promotion and protection of the health and well -being of all Leon".

The head of Endocrinology of the Hospital de León has stressed that diabetes has become a "pandemia2, with a high incidence in the population, especially in the population over 65.

As Isidoro Cano explained, 27 percent of the health area of ​​León is over 65 yearsworrying is the percentage of the population that does not know that this disease has, and that "of 13 percent of the Spanish population has diabetes, 6 percent do not know that it has it."

For Cano, prevention campaigns are "essential" since treatments are effective in controlling glucose levels, although one of the problems is the adhesion of patients to treatments.
