Hello good:

I am Imanol I have been in Type I diabetic for 24 years, and it is time to take the step and have children, I wanted to know what information there is about children with a diabetic father, do they contract the disease?Because of me they told me that it was hereditary despite being the only one in the family to have it;I would like to get some information about it

Thank you

@IUA31.Imanol, having type 1 diabetes is not an impediment to having children. There are more chances of inheriting both type 1 diabetes and type 2 if one of the parents has them, but the risk is lower in type 1 diabetes. According to the American Diabetes Association , the probabilities of genetic transmission are approx.4 % if the mother is under 25, and 1 % (twice the general population) if they are over 25 years old.For men, the probabilities of genetic transmission are 6%.Luck!
