Ocular correction (operation) and type 1 diabetes

Good afternoon,

I am type 1 diabetic since the age of 9, and since the age of 12 I was prescribed glasses, whose formula has gradually increased over the years.

At present I have myopia and astigmatism almost with a graduation of 3 in each eye, I am 23 years old and I can proudly say that I have never entered a clinic for reasons of bad control or problems associated with diabetes.

Recently for this forum I was reading about ocular correction, for years I have always heard that there is no way to operate and make such correction, but lately I have seen cases of people who comment on their experience.

I would like to know more about this topic, listen to some opinion or recommendations regarding the case, before starting to look for clinical centers that can help me in the case, I would greatly appreciate your opinions.

Thank you!

I operate myopia.I was removed 10 and 8 dictrias 2 years ago.My intervention was with multifocal intraocular lentilla, so now I see well from afar and up close. At 6 months, I operated in astigmatism, I had 1.5 and 0 5 with Laseik.
The retina is not touched, but that does not mean that you can see problems such as any intervention.Near the year of the first intervention I had video detachment, we always think that it is to operate, but they are things that can happen without an operation in between. And in the left eye they have also given Laser Yag to clean what vulgarly is called dirty slow. And now I have to consider doing it in law.
You have little diopters and laser can remove them.Go to one or more clinics and they advise you if you can or cannot and the most appropriate intervention for your eyes.
At this time I would do it again.
Let's see if @"Javier Arriaga Sanz", ophthalmologist can help you solve your doubts.
Greetings.

@Amauro96, Ana Isabel has provided all the information you need, perfectly. We have already talked about this in the forum, but summarizing the issue is very easy. For refractive surgery, diabetes is not any obstacle. You have to do some tests prior to the intervention, but they are mandatory for everyone. If they exceed, the operation is feasible.

I operated myopia with 6 and 7. DR operated.Ramón Gutierrez I don't know if he was the first in Spain who made a cornea transplant I don't remember looking for information about Google.
In Cartagena, the Ircovisión clinic that they say they are very good refused to operate for having diabetes, I brought medical reports and controls throughout the life of diabetes that were already about 29 years old, right now more than 34 years, it is supposed toVery good ophthalmologists and is the head of ophthalmology of the Santa Lucia hospital in Cartagena, but they completely refused to the operation.
When I went to see this Dr. De Murcia saw my eye, he looked at all the reports, a fairly acceptable control throughout the life of diabetes.
In the healing period it was great, it told me that it had been totally better and even much faster than do not have diabetes.
I wish I could operate before if at the Cartagena clinic they would have wanted to.

I did not ask for analytics or anything because they were diabetic only asked me if I was well controlled and although my control is not perfect even if I try and my hem never goes down from 7 there were no problems.
If I asked that m made a test that I recommended @"Javier Arriaga Sanz" in principle they told me that it was not necessary, but they did it to me.I don't remember what the test was called.
