Food and sport with type 1 diabetes

Hello!

I have diabetes from a young age (25 years old) now I have 63, I usually play light sports, walk, gym of strength, and low intensity, regularly.

For several years, I have made mountain cycling as an amateur with a group of colleagues, we are going to have fun with 50-60 kms routes. And now I explain the situation that I want to fix, and that at the moment I do not see where to catch it.

My glucose levels are usually (without using the bicycle) in many correct rank (110 -160), although sometime, as most, we are triggered.

In the morning (today) when I wake up I am in 90, and I leave the route, with a tea, 20gg HC.

To half a route, the gluco level is in 150, and that is then, when we stop to eat (some), have coffee, pasta, nuts, etc, and I drink a coffee alone, and a barite of the decathlonWith HC with:

Nutritional information every 100gr: 65 HC, Sugar 28, and during the return route I get the glucose to points of 250/280, and arriving home it reaches 150 again.

I have also tried by indication of the doctor, to eat at the stop some bread, with ham, turkey, etc., and the same thing happens to me, I do not find the way to adjust these unevenness with the bicycle.

In the event that at half a route, reaching gluco levels approx.Between 100 - 140 and just have a coffee, I am afraid, that missing half a route, I get too much and enter hip.

I appreciate your knowledge and help, to try to improve this the situation that has been worried.

Thank you.

P.S.I have seen a title with: Food - Type 1 diabetes, but I do not contemplate food and sport, and I have chosen to put a new theme. If it's not right, forgive me.

Hello!I don't know any sport, but it may rise through those hormones that are secreted during the effort, such as adrenaline ...
Maybe with coffee and nuts, you are better.Or you can eat them along the way, it is a matter of trying ... Anyway they are specific ups that go down alone.

Take sugary liquids or glucose pills in case you ever low, which rise faster than solids.Enjoy the route.

Forget about that shit of the Decarton ... if you are type 1 you will be putting insulin I understand ..
In my case, 150 to half a route for me is excessive. If you have that figure and you put your bar with those HC and add added .... the logical thing is that you go to 250. Try to eat a banana, the less mature the better, that in addition to taking away the hunger it gives you a lot ofvitamins and few HC.
It is what is working for me by bike and with these heats.
And if I see that under 75 ... I buy a fresh watercolor boat I take it in the drum and I drink sorbitos. For now Holy.

And for winter, nuts, half toasted with oil, cut warm ... and if the route is longer then a low protéic bread sandwich in HC, turkey and cheese.

And if the descent is strong, then sugar or half orange. If I know it, it causes me an immediate climb of 80 units.Proven several times

Hello! You can try not to eat your whole bar. When you eat it like this, it generates your peak and if you want that PQ bar you like, you can eat half or even less and the rest little by little during the route, when you can, a small bite and do not generate large peaks.

Hi @jordiv, how wonderful it is to practice sports and the benefits that we apòrta.Regarding what you tell ... I do not know if you use insulins both basal and fast, but we go the less active insulin you have at the time of sports will be phenomenal, since ... if there is a short time your glucose, here you must find out what your ideal insulin is to pedal up without fear. The same exercise is like insulin catch glucose quickly.

In the same way that your medication is low that same day, you can play more in that regard. On the other hand, your intensity and duration of exercise are important, some series of slopeThe muscle is a wonderful endocrine organ.

In my case I make great bike outputs and go out many of them, this is according to energy or time of energy or with the growing group.

But what is worth me does not have to be worth you, we are a world of each one, come a lot enjoy those bike outputs.

You tell us

In the case of going out of route with a te and nuts like the ones I put in photo, do you think only with the fat levels (by ration) plus the HC would have enough ??

I must punish a lot because I am seeing that at most during the route compared to what you are saying.

Hello partner.
Before the route (normally) with 150 approx glucose, I have a tea, and quick insulin, only slow, and I get out of the route.
I usually do 50/55 km of BTT.At 30 km the levels are approx in 190. In the first stop I took a coffee with milk or, cut, and sometimes, a banana.
I go out again to 220, and at the end of the route I am at 100.
The endocrine tells me that if I go with these level I go well.: p

I hope it helps you

This previously commented, does not mean that if one day we have a lot of caloric expense, and we have made a lot of unevenness, at the stop, I eat 2 fried eggs, bacon, 1 coffee, and back.: D

Very useful thread.

My son is very athlete I want him not to leave him or limit it.However, I read a lot to be careful with hypos ... and less practical advice. When sport is essential. For everything.

The other day gluco in rank throughout the competition thanks to three dusts that fit.One per game. But it is not representative because it is I assume in honeymoon.

If everything that endures better than better is in the beginning. But if the diagnosis is DM1, it will end up having to control the hydrates a lot, as affects the intense physical exercise, the slow doses, the rapid doses. But come on, time to time and that everything follows its course. The more you hold your beta cells won.Cheer up

I am glad that this thread helps you / help you.
If with our (little) experience about the gluco, and sport, it serves you, it is already of great help, with these comments, and experiences of others, we can nurture all.
Greetings.

Sometimes and according to the type of sport (more or less aerobic, or strength) this type of supplement, or others is needed.

Hello.
First I don't know if this will be the place to ask.If not, you will tell me

A few weeks after the bicycle routes, I take ramps in the Ischies, and quadriceps, (I had never spent so regularly).
Protein levels in Anàlysis at the moment I have them well, and I think the food too.

I take Sales of the "Mineral Salts" natural brand only carry minerals without more, together during the routes with a lotI give myself how much they have sucrose, among others, and perhaps much HC.
Look at the photos, and if you can help me, and what to do.
Thank you all.

@Jordiv And how many grams would you take ...?I suppose it will depend on whether it is every day, how much is the dose ... etc.
For example, what would you take, every day 16 Great of powders with water?32?

This is what I would take at each departure 3 times a week.
