How do you do to control glucose in the happy Christmas dinners?Yesterday I had dinner at a closed menu, I tried to eat the least possible hydrates but inevitably I took more, especially of slower absorption (canapés and other farinaceans) I injected more units of fast insulin. And when I got home I was almost 300, it has cost me a victory to lower it during the night. What advice do you give me?It is already terrifying me to spend a little.

I tell you in closed dinners with prepared menu, who will tell us that we do not eat canapés, rich sauces, and a thousand more things? Before arriving I always wear two or three because I know that a couple of reeds and something else will fall. Those dinners are usually delayed and start late so I don't get the strong dose at the beginning. As I see I add doses little by little, now pump before pen, I put a multitude of punctures but not suddenly, I was controlling with analytics. It is difficult to control rations in those meals because to know what the sauces and so on.In addition, as you say, they are often HC Slow absorption that give you surprise late.

Yes, better increase and distribute insulin, because spn long and abundant dinners. With a bomb, it can be done very well. With boli, one dose can be put at the beginning and another before dessert.
And after two hours, you measure yourself and correct whatever it takes.

Well, I usually put up to 5-6 more units, as little, I don't tell you anything if I take dessert, the closed dinners are good is that you know you are going to eat beforehand, as what you want and click more.

If you want you can always measure yourself when you get home and rectify, although you will go out with 200 that mñn you will be controlling little by little, it is not good to lower the glycemia very quickly.

ah!Nor do you get 10 more units if you have not started to see if you are going to get bad with a donor PQ take to bring your food.

Always puncture with the first plate of hydrates on the table !!

@jconegar with bomb + dexcom, and your knowledge of the disease ... You have it sucking for these things.

For me these types of events were made hard psychologically since I was going to measure myself to the bathroom every half hour, and I did not enjoy and it was when I felt that I was not a normal person.

Now with the dexcom ... well it is much more bearable, but I do miss a bomb in those moments to act accordingly, and not be clicking every hour insulin reinforcements.

The bomb has been taken since July and Dexcom 3.5 years.Working 25 hahaha. Before I ate with the pen and the glucometer at the table hahaha.Without cutting a hair, countless punctures and analyzes some but as I did not see me because to attack, I always asked if I bothered that I did it at the table. In addition to the end he always spent strips and lancers of more xq towards analysis to a lot hahaha

What is going, I have to hide the disease in my day to day for various reasons, I would not be able to hide the pot.
In addition I would make me very hard to see another device in my body, and the Dexcom already seems huge.

I know that together with an MCG a barbarity is improved, but I don't see it for me right now.My endocrine and educators have already insisted several times with the bomb, I tell them that they get me financing of Dexcom sensors that cost the same or less than the entire issue of the pump. But of course with that, the Commission of the Messrs.

Ok artories I understand you.I was hiding it 6 years in a company.
For the bomb you have to be somewhat convinced to try.I spent 5 years thinking about it and now I think it was nonsense.
I enjoy seeing people as some ask, how they look, well I don't even tell you in the sport the eyes of others dance towards my hahaha. And on the beach and pool that I do not disconnect or tell you.

I do as @Anzazuleg I calculate the hydrates and I put at least a couple of units more than I would touch me because whenever you eat away from home food has more hydrates than it seems. Also as @jconegar and @regina comment, the dose is fine if the food lengthens. Now with the pump it is very easy.Anyway do what you do for me it is difficult not to end a 200 after this type of dinner, tonight I have my business dinner and fear gives me ...

@Arotorias I have been insulin bomb since May and in my work they do not know that I have diabetes or that I have a bomb but I understand you, it is a more pot and you have to be convinced.Anyway, as you say only with Dexcom, control/quality of life increases greatly.

Soon I have the company food, it will be my first company food as a diabetic, I was diagnosed last July, so I am still in first diabetes ... I have come to consider not going to food, but I think it would beAn error, since I consider that you have to face things and I must normalize my situation, and incidentally serves me as an experience.I have no idea of the menu, I suppose I will know as soon as I entered the restaurant, I plannedcalculated and at 2 and a half hours or so, correct with the rest or with whatever needs, I do not know if it will be the best strategy or do everything in one ...

Hi @dani_gt

First of all, I agree that you have to go, that diabetes is not an impediment to socialize, it is a difficulty, but not an impediment.

I think you have a good plan for dinner, dividing insulin is a good strategy, especially when you don't know what you are going to eat, in what quantities, nor if you are going to drink or not, also, keep in mind the type of dinner, if it is going to be standing or sitting, if there is then physical activity (dance, disc ...).

I think that on these occasions (once a year) we can relax the control and let ourselves be carried to be able to enjoy, then once at home you correct the hyper, etc ... before going to sleep.

Of course, try to carry everything, in case the hypos, etc ... that is never known, sometimes they serve little dinner and a lot of protein or fats, so better that you are prepared.

Cheer up with that dinner !!

@Dani_gt: I advise you, at the outset, don't make time for waiting because you don't know how long they will take to serve the dish.

When you have the dish in front, calculate the "ojimeter" hydrates and try to eat an amount similar to what you usually eat (you can always say that you have eaten enough if you leave something on the plate).

The "holidays" dishes usually have more proteins and fats, so the rise in glycemia will be relaxed. If you have put the usual dose or increase it thinking that day you will give yourself a "tribute", you can have a hypoglycemia. In this case, what you say about dividing the bolus is the most successful.

For me, the most difficult topic to manage are the parties where you begin to serve a collection of snacks, of those who do not know what you eat but are usually delicious. In addition to ignoring the ingredients, you do not know how many snacks will serve you, or if a main dish awaits you below. The HC count then becomes an "impossible mission."In this case it is more worth short with the dose of insulin, eating in moderation, and running.

Good luck with your dinner!

Thank you !I will tell you how to have gone, the food is next Thursday day 5. The truth is that I am taking it to a rajatabla and I am always quite well inside the range. As my educator commented once, from time to time I have torelease the brake a bit ...

I will be prepared with the glucose arsenal, just in case.

Before, as you pricked insulin, now you click on, that is, you click some units before the meal, then on the table you measure yourself and according to see the arrows if you climb you click again, and you are looking, it is notAn impediment to make a normal life, and above all once a year, they are parties, the bad are the nougat, polvorones etc.

I think that many keys have been given, and with success without a doubt, but I think we should not obsess that day, if the blood glucose escapes us a little, if there is alcohol then that lowers an eye, plus walking and wiggling our body.Good luck and enjoy
