The 8th World Diabetes Prevention Congress and its complications will be held in Colombia, specifically in Cartagena, from October 15 to 18.

Diabetes is so important that in most countries in the world, from the Islands of Mauricio, in the Indian Ocean, to the East of Madagascar, passing through the United States, and the Colombian coast, among many other places, strategies are advanced,Campaigns and programs in order to prevent the disease, and in cases where it is inevitable, to maximize the risk of complications and that patients have quality of life, since it is a chronic disease that will accompany them for decades.

All that scientific evidence, the new findings and successful clinical and investigative experiences will be presented at the 8th World Diabetes Prevention Congress and its complications (WCPD).

For this, the three scientific associations that work in the Diabetes field in Colombia have gathered efforts and which are the Colombian Association of Diabetes, the Colombian Diabetological Federation and the Colombian Association of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.

“From the first Congress, which took place almost 20 years ago in Copenhagen (Denmark), the interest in diabetes prevention has been growing thanks to the studies that have demonstrated the effectiveness of interventions in high -risk people.

The same has happened with the early detection and multifactorial management of diabetes and its complications, which has reduced the load of disease.Now it is necessary to implement the results at the regional and local level, and the main objective of this 8th World Diabetes Prevention Congress and its complications is to bring together all experts who have been applying prevention strategies in the real world to exchangeexperiences and collaborate with groups interested in project development in this field, ”explains Dr. Pablo Aschner Montoya, Colombian endocrinologist, president of the 8th World Diabetes Prevention Congress and its complications.
