Have you delayed meal time?

RocioLlinares's profile photo   06/29/2015 12:09 p.m.

In the case of my daughter they told us that we try to respect the hours of the meals they gave us.Breakfast has it at 8, during the week there is no problem because I have to lift it, one when he goes to school and now on vacation because we have to leave it with grandparents for us to go to work, but on weekends IIt is sorry to have it to wake up so soon ..... They told us not to delay more than half an hour.Do you know if we can alter the schedule? Many
thank you!!!!

If you carry a basal insulin guideline (Levemir, Lantus ...) and fast insulin at meals (Humalog, Novorapid ...) you can vary the time of meals without any problem. If you are with a bomb, too.

To get an idea, at school time my son has breakfast at 8:00 a.m.On weekends, there is no one to raise him before 10:30.These summer days, if I neglect at 12:00.
The only thing we consider is that the mid -morning snack does not do it if it meets a lot with the eating time or does it in less quantity.

Try little by little and soon you will dominate it.

Yes, we have Humalog and Lantus, but if he gets up too late, he can't have a hypo?Somo new in all this.

I jumped breakfast some days that I lie late.I take the advantages of basal + fast.I get up, about two cookies and I still sleep another couple of hours.I don't even measure me.
I also play that I always get up throwing high, I almost never got to breakfasts with less than 90.

If your child usually comes about 70 at 8:00, logically if you let it sleep more hours there is a risk of hypo.
I would talk first with your endocrine or educator, since if you carry a basal + fast pattern, it is normal for meal schedules to be flexible, so if you have been told that you are rigid with the subject, it may be for something.

Although in the end everything is based on what @aaandres says, to try.

@Rociollinares What time does the lantus get?I believe that if you don't have to lift in the morning to click it, you can vary the breakfast schedule on the weekend even if it is lifted around 10. I think you remember that you said your daughter is 13 years old?Get up early on the weekend if or if for a girl her age she can assume quite annoying so I think it is worth trying to change the schedule one day and see what happens. As always in diabetes, test and error.

I on weekends breakfast like 4 hours later that the days of daily and without problems, unless your daughter gets up very tightly in 70 or so then if she can have a hiccup.
As a young girl, as your daughter wore a NPH that those that marked the hours and if not, safe hypoglycemia, what my mother was taking breakfast to bed (milk with tail-cao and 4 cookies) so thatI wouldn't spaby me much and kept sleeping so pancha

A morning hypo is very rare for the 13 -year -old kids. From 6:00 a.m. your body begins to generate hormones of all kinds (to put the body into action, growth, ...) that are all hyperglycemic.
Unless the basal dose is poorly calculated and going down in the morning, I wouldn't worry too much.

Yes, he is 13 years old, and lantus gets before bedtime. It started with 16 units and we have lowered it to 15 because it rose down. Also if bedtime is below 150, which is usually usual, a glass of milk is taken. But being so recent we are afraid to try and have a hypo and we don't know.

If you can economically, buy the Continuous glucose meter DEXCOM.
At all times you will know and you will know what glucose level and let you know with vibration and alarms if it is low or high.
If he is also an athlete, he will come from pearls.

Rocío, with Lantus the EZ advantage that you can have freedom of schedules in meals and even skip some.
You can measure it when leaving home and if it is low to give it some juice, and keep sleeping.
My daughter puts the Lantus at 11 in the morning and breakfast and eat when she wants.

I am very happy that the "experiment" @rociollinares has gone well. The truth is that I agree with Regina that the Lantus gives a lot of flexibility of schedules, which is very appreciated.I also put it in the morning.

If whenever necessary and according to backward values advance puncture.
If it is low before eating as in 100 skewer the humalog half an hour later, now instead if this high skewer before and then as.

When I debuted, I started with the Mixtard and had to be very strict with the schedules, with the half mornings, with meals, with everything.

It annoyed me a lot, but what was the most to have to be very severe with the food hours and therefore having to get up at the same time the weekends and parties as one day of work.

Now with the lantus and the rapid is another story :-)

To my daughter the value they put to vary doses and moment of puncture was 80. Below 80 two units less and if there is about 60 click later, although we are already varying also depending on what is going to eat .....
In a joke plan ..... the next course begins 2nd of the ESO, and I tell him that when they send him a job on nutrition, and that he will surely fall, ..... that we are going to embroider it........
