Situation in Spain
It is estimated that 1,500 children with diabetes in Spain debut every year.
This number, although it is increasing, does not represent a high percentage of students per school since it is estimated that by school there may be 0 to 4 children with diabetes.
This means that the majority of the teaching staff faces an unknown situation for which they have to receive adequate training so that the student with diabetes can develop in the same conditions as the rest of their classmates, since by the facthaving diabetes does not present any physical, intellectual or sensory limitation.
The Diabetes Foundation, aware of the problems facing many parents in the schooling of their children with diabetes, conducted several studies that confirmed the problems that already existed.
