New 41 with diabetes 1

Hi, on April 16 I was hospitalized for salmonellosis and discovered my diabetes.Ingar with more than 500 glucose in urine and 280 and blood.I am injecting daily 30 intermediate insulin units (Humulin).At the moment I follow the same diet and physical activity but my glucose goes between 91 in the morning to 184 when bedtime and varies a lot from day to day.Is it normal or am I doing something wrong?Thank you
