The Deputy of Development and Social Welfare, Antonio García Ortega, has visited in Jerez the headquarters of three groups that work with people with special needs: Parkinson's, Diabetes and Afanas associations, with which the Diputación maintains different lines of collaboration whose renewalIn 2015 it is already guaranteed by the plenary.Among all, the provincial entity allocates an amount that is around 200,000 euros.
The deputy has taken advantage of the visits to learn about the facilities, check the operation of the different programs and activities that are carried out in them and know firsthand the impressions of responsible and personnel of these centers, as well as the needs they present to improveIts operation.In this sense, the deputy explained the current strategy of the current government team not to practice any cuts in social projects and aid and increase contributions progressively as the economic situation improves.
Diputación has incorporated into the Parkinson Jerez Association, which was founded in 2014, to the list of mutual aid groups with which it maintains an agreement in force.The association was born to respond to people suffering from this disease and found difficulty having specialized help.The Diputación collaborates for the first time with this entity, as it does with other Parkinson's associations in the province.
For this, it allocates a contribution of 5,000 euros, which is used to cover current expenses, such as personnel hiring for the integral intervention program ‘Stop Parkinson’ aimed at affected by the disease and caregiver families that require psychosocial support.
In addition to the economic contribution, the day 'more than a tremor', organized by Diputación and that has already completed six editions, tries to respond to professionals, patients and family on different areas related to the disease, provide them with tools to improveits quality of life and sensitize society about this evil.
In the center of Parkinson Jerez, physiotherapy, speech therapy, reading or facial massage aimed at curling the disease, improving the situation of patients and normalizing their life in society are developed.
The second visit of the Provincial Deputy has been to the Center for Afanas Jerez, where people with intellectual disabilities are served.The deputy has verified the benefits of the facilities, the programs that are developed and the service and attention they receive.
The amount that Diputación assigned in 2015 to this agency amounts to 167,039 euros, which represents an increase with respect to the previous year of 35,000 euros.With this sum, eight places are financed for the comprehensive care of people not attached to the public system of the agency, because they are in a situation of social urgency, for being on the waiting list or for attending personal or family circumstances that technically advise it.
The Diputación has been allocating more than one million euros in each year for five care centers of these people in the province, through four Afanas centers (El Puerto, Jerez, San Fernando and La Janda) and AsansullOn the line.This amount is destined to the square concert in the different centers.
The last visit of the deputy in Jerez has taken place at the center of the Diabetic Association, integrated into the Federation of Diabetics of Cádiz.This Federation receives a subsidy of 15,000 euros from the Diputación.A third of this amount is destined to the vacation program of the children of the five associations that compose it and the rest is used in courses aimed at its associates on topics such as healthy eating in diabetes orWorkshops on carbohydrate or ‘healthy kite’.
