On November 18, the Madrid Diabetics Association, the Diabetes and Madrid Health Foundation, organize the "Popular Diabetes", a great sports party open to anyone who wants to participate, or not with thediabetes.
The race will be celebrated as a final touch of the activities organized for World Diabetes Day under the motto "Diabetes: We protect our future."
The main objective of this career is to sensitize the general population about diabetes and promote, as a form of prevention in type 2 diabetes, the practice of sport.
This career will organize in a solidarity environment in which everyone is called to integrate into a day in which athletes, fans who wish to run through diabetes, older people who can participate in a march through the Juan Carlos I Park, andThe little ones they will enjoy in the children's race.
To do this, three different tours that will consist of a 10 km race, a 2.5 km march and a children's race have been arranged.
Another objective of the "diabetes race" is to raise awareness among people with this disease and their families of the importance of playing sports to reduce blood glucose levels.Likewise, the importance of self -control will be highlighted to prevent and face hypoglycemia and information will be delivered for management in the event that they occur.
With a maximum of 1,500 runners, among which the assistance of numerous people with diabetes is expected, glycemia control spaces have been enabled where health specialists of the Spanish Diabetes Society will serve.
Coinciding with the celebration of the race, the Diabetes Fair will be held, on the same day from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., aimed at the career participants and the general public.In it, different activities have been raised to everyone what they want to know more about diabetes, how to prevent it, how to detect it, how to control it, etc.
