The president of the Andalusian Society of Ophthalmology (SAO), Ignacio Vinuesa, has advised people with diabetes that, in the first five diagnosis, retinographies are carried out annually in order to prevent diabetic macular edema.
And, as has alerted, the prevalence of diabetes is 8 percent of the population and, within diabetics, the prevalence of blindness ranges between 4 percent and 11 percent."Diabetes does not have to say blindness, but retinographs must be done, and if there is no pathology, continue with background reviews every year," he added.
The expert has spoken this way on the occasion of the celebration, on February 26 in Seville, of the 'I Day for the prevention of blindness by diabetic macular edema', organized by Sao in collaboration with the eleven and Allergan.
"Organizing such a day in Parliament delves into the concept of open parliament that we have tried to maintain. Parliament is the house of all Andalusians. These debate forums are fundamental. We have to raise awareness of citizens that they acquire healthy habits thatThey will prevent diseases from developing, "said the secretary of the Parliament of Andalusia, Remedios Martel.
