Christmas came in advance to the University of Valle del Río Grande de Texas (UTRGV) thanks to a donation granted by HEB supermarkets, which amounts to a million dollars, to be allocated to the Diabetes and Obesity Center of the south ofTexas (Stdoi).
These funds will serve for the development of the fight against diabetes and obesity, as well as for the promotion of health in the Texas Valley.
The president of the UTRGV, Dr. Guy Bailey, received this donation from Santa Claus, to which he affirmed with a laugh, who had had very good Christmas, but none so good with it.
In the same way, he thanked Heb officials for being part of this great collaboration with the UTRGV, which will greatly help improve the health of the entire valley.
For his part Laura Gump, vice president of the group and general manager of the Heb border region, expressed her joy by being part of this association for the education and well -being of people.
"The opening of the UTRGV and its Medicine School will be a monumental step for our region and will be the epicenter of the national conversation in educational question," Gump exclaimed.
Similarly, he said that the positive impact it will bring for families, our students and future generations is immeasurable.

For his part, Dr. Francisco Fernández, dean of the UtrGV Medicine School, said that thanks to this donation, innovations in scientific and medical research especially of diabetes can be developed, which seriously affects the valley.
The Dean commented that diabetes is the seventh cause of death in the United States, and about 30 percent of people in the valley suffer from this evil.
"Three out of five people will arrive in the emergency room or the hospital this year with a complication of diabetes.
