Professor Kazem Behbehani, general director of the Dasman Dasman Institute of Kuwait, will participate in the III International Congress controlling diabetes and their most severe complications in Cuba, a diplomatic source said today.

During that scientific meeting in the Caribbean country, from December 10 to 12, Dr. Behbehani, a prominent figure of medicine in Kuwait, will dictate the master conference "Diabetes Mellitus, situation in Kuwait".

The Dasman Diabetes Institute is a reference center for the treatment of this disease among the countries of the Persian Gulf.

That international event, organized by the Cuba Genetic and Biotechnology Engineering Center, is dedicated to presenting the development and application of the Heberprot-P drug, unique in the world for the effective treatment of diabetic foot ulcer, with 78 percentof reducing amputation risk for that cause.

This product is applied through direct infiltration in the area of ​​the diabetic foot ulcer, promoting the formation of granulation tissues and effective healing in short periods of time.

More than 163 thousand patients from 23 countries have been treated with the new medicine, which Cuban researchers developed.

In Cuba, about 75 percent of patients suffering from this condition receive that effective drug at the level of primary health care.

At least 40 countries in the world foresee the sending of their specialists to this scientific meeting, which will have the next week the famous Varadero spa.
