Hi, I'm new in this forum.My problem is the next I live in Barcelona and my father has been diabeticvo for many years but I had a via oral medication now for about 6 months have been scheduled by the Lantus insulin and in the ambulatory they have told me that they only give me glycemia strips for whenHe noticed any drop but does not face that controls are done.You can tell me if this is really so.

Well, in my opinion it is not so.I think it is another consequence of health cuts, which seems to be noticeable in Catalonia in which other parts of the country.With oral medication the risk of declines practically does not exist, but with the insulint even the basal, it can occur.And for an insulin -dependent person at least two daily controls would be recommended, provided there are no symptoms of hypoglycemia, in which case more controls would be needed.
If you can afford it, buy some reactive strips to your coast, at least until you see how it evolves with insulin.
