Type 2 diabetes

Hello everyone,

I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes ten days ago. They made me a glucose curve eight months after childbirth, because I had gestational diabetes and the values I said were the following:
Basal glucose: 88 mg/dl
120 min: 203 mg/dl glucose

Given this result, the endocrine sent me to repeat the test, because I was surprised that when I was 35 years old, weigh 44 kilos and have no disease or treatment, I had diabetes.

The second curve gave the following results:
Basal glucose: 127 mg/dl
120 min glucose: 122 mg/dl
Hemoglobin A1 C: 7.2% 55 mmol/mol

In view of this, the endocrine finally diagnosed me with type 2 diabetes and prescribed two dianben pills a day.

Speaking of the issue with family members they told me that they knew cases of people who had diagnosed diabetes and within a few months had disappeared.

This seems very strange to me, since I understand that diabetes is a chronic disease that has treatment and can be controlled, but not cure.

Nor do I know if these values that I have mentioned are the normal ones in diabetes because a family doctor who saw them says that this is "correct" or is a subject related to pregnancy and that can disappear. The truth is that I am following the guidelines of my endocrine, but I would like someone in this forum to give me some opinion.

Thanks a lot.

All the best.

Holasss

Type 2 diabetes is possible to find it in patients without obesity, due to "guilt" of genetic inheritance ... it is rare to find it in such early ages as yours or mine: D

I imagine that the endocrine will have asked for more analytical: peptide C, antibodies ... in order to determine the type of diabetes.
Sometimes it is not easy to diagnose the type of diabetes, but there is enough analytical tests today to do so.

In type 2 patients, sometimes, it happens that their pancreas, after an overexploited time, returns to more or less normal levels of functioning needs ... as a consequence of modification of life or drug habits ... but the diseaseHe is still there, only controlled.

Thanks for your information Owash, you are a well of diabetic wisdom.
Actually, my endocrine tested everything you mention but the lady is so laconic that she only told me the conclusion: that it was type 2 diabetes and that it was due to an "inheritance."My paternal grandfather was diabetic, but he was diagnosed with more than seventy years, and we always thought it was because he put himself to the top of sugar.
I wanted to raise a question that I have about nutrition, especially because my husband insists me to ask for another endocrine opinion.Because the one that has diagnosed me has not put any diet or pattern to feed myself. She told us that since I was very thin, she didn't need any diet. But the truth is that since I have no habit of eating between hours, sometimes some rare jamacucos give me, for example in the middle of the morning. At that time I usually give my baby a porridge and sometimes my pulse shakes a lot, I do not know if it is because not as anything between breakfast and food or between food and dinner. My husband believes that he should have a more organized meal plan, but I assume that the endocrine knows what is brought in hand. She told me that she gave a "healthy life" and that to see if with the two dianben pills the thing was controlled.I don't know very well what this idea was based on, because he didn't ask me any questions about it either.
I do not know if my diabetes is "light", if it is useless to make a certain diet, or if in diabetes 2 nothing is prescribed regarding the way of feeding.
Or if I must consult with another specialist.
Anyway, I don't know anything at all, heh, heh.
Thanks again.

If you are in adequate weight, the diet must be normocaloric, that is, adjusted to your daily caloric needs ... normally around 1500 kcal is sufficient.

Your endocrine, or failing that, the educator nurse should have explained that what glycemia rises are carbohydrates ... but that you must consume them because they are gasoline "of the body.
The logical thing would be to distribute carbohydrates in the 3-4 main meals of the day.

If you have those Jamacucos, it would not be more than measure glycemia to see if they are hypoglycemia ... although Dianben does not produce hypoglycemia.

Do not take for granted that endos know what they are talking about ... as in everything there are also useless: Evil:

In general, to type 2 the treatment is:
1.- Diet and exercise.Hypocaloric or restrictive diet of rapid absorption carbohydrates.
2.- If it works .... DIET+EXERCISE+DIANBEN
3.- If it works .... Diet+Exercise+Dianben+Sulfoniruleas
4.- If it works .... DIET+EXERCISE+DIANBEN+INCLAINS
5.- If it works .... DIET+EXERCISE+DIANBEN+BASAL INSULIN
6.- SO WORKS .... DIET+EXERCISE+BASAL INSULIN+FAST INSULIN

The criteria to see if it works is glycosylated hemoglobin below 7%

Hi Mariluna:

In type 2 diabetes there are no educators, we are like the poor of the family, they gave me a diet:

Breakfast: 1 glass (200cc) of semi-died milk without sugar (non-cocoa) + fresh fruit or natural cereals or 1 tortado (no oil or butter)

mid -morning

food : 1st dish: greenish (boiled, sauteed, puree), 3-4 days per week, or broth (misfortune). The other days legumes or pasta or rice, prepared without fat .

2nd dish: meat or fish (not fried, battered or sauces).Max 150 gr.in raw (no pig, or lamb; maximum blue fish)

3rd fresh fruit or skim yogour

snack: fresh fruit or skimmed yogour

dinner: just like food. The second dish can be changed by eggs (never fried) (max 3 per week)

important

The maximum amount of oil for the whole day is 20 ml (a timpoon has 15-20 ml)
This diet does not carry bread. No sugary soft drinks. No cheeses, nor sweet, nor nuts, nor sausages. No alcohol.

"Light" drinks, water and infusions without sugars can be used.Aliños such as vinegar, lemon, spices, garlic can also be used.

The Diamben does not produce hypos, but I have had tremors some days that I have not taken anything in mid -morning or mid -afternoon, for me it is essential to do so.

Diagnosticada en Agosto del 2009, solicite la curva de glucosa, diabetes melitus II, actualmente tomo Jentadueto, dos al día. Glicosilada 6,4

I suppose the second test was concluded as DM2 for basal glycemia and glucosilada, because it is very curious as your glucose at 120 min after the test was in normal values and that having started from a high value.
