Hi Elvira

Ideally, diabetes units would have specialists in psychology and educators who would help in problems such as yours, much more frequent than we can think.
A psychologist, an anorexia/bulimia association along with an endocrine and a diabetes educator could support you to solve your problem (which has a solution, is not easy or fast but has a solution).

On the other hand, insulin does not fat, or helps to gain weight, no matter how "anabolizing" hormone insulin is not responsible for exaggerated weight gain (and I tell you, which I have already tried to use that "excuse"For my weight gain).
Without insulin, it is thinned, true, but without insulin what you do is wear little by little until it can no more and ketoacidosis is triggered, and if it does not stop with the consequences that we all know.

If you eat 2000 calories and only spend 1300 calories ... it is normal for you to weight.
That said, it is easy, then the complicated thing is to put it into practice ... but it is like any matter of trying, looking for support and professional help ... It is like my signature " I tried to solve only all my doubts ...And 20 years later I still have some "

How is that Owash?I can have a 2000 calorie diet, with approximately 20 daily rations of carbohydrates, exercise to spend the 2000 calories, without having hypos?without increasing carbohydrate servings? What is the relationship between calories and carbohydrates? Many questions ???Hehe: Twisted:

Didn't Pepa explained to you?: Shock: :))

Fats provide 9 kcal for each gram.
Carbohydrates contribute 4 kcal for each gram.
Proteins provide 4 kcal for each gram.

As you see, in terms of calories, it doesn't matter to eat proteins as carbohydrates.

20 rations of daily carbohydrates are 800 calories .... It is a lot, considering that protein, vegetables and a little fat must also consume.

Calories have nothing to do with insulin calculation or hypoglycemia ... You can have hypos with a diet of 1200 lime.or with another of 2500 lime.
Obviously if you have a hypo you will have to eat HC ... but the hypos have nothing to do with the calories that are normally eaten.

I know that some time ago this topic in the forum but I just found it and ... I don't know, I'm not quite Owash.I explain, diagnosed with DM1 in 1999.I have very bad controls ... I am convinced that my sugar is free and does not respond to stable guidelines.I can eat the same two days, do the same exercise, put on the same dose and one day I have it great and the other like a roller coaster; But what I was going to ... I put Lantus (20) and Humalog at each meal (breakfast, food, snack - because it will arrive very high at night - and dinner) and for a couple of the year it happens to me that when I have some someDecent levels of blood sugar ... I swell.Yes, I say that I swell because it is not normal that, for example, last Monday we weigh 55'600 kg and on Tuesday, 24 hours later, 52'300 kg.In addition ... it is not that I have taken weight because my legs and belly hurt as if I had been running the marathon or doing abdominals, it is not exactly like the pain of hole but when I touched me it hurts, in addition to the feeling of being aswollen balloon about to explode at any time.I am convinced that it is due to the Lantus, so I am going to ask my endo to change me to hold ... Let's see what he tells me.What do you think?

Hi Bianca
The Lantus+Humalog guideline ... also called Bolu-Basal ... forces us to ultra-granted every time we eat, including lunches and snacks ...

I have not read anything that the Lantus can cause those symptoms of swelling.

One possibility is that those symptoms that you describe can be due to contraceptive pills ...

Thanks for answering Owash.
I do not take oral contraceptives so that is why it cannot be.Today I have been with my endo and according to her it is an obsession of mine (all I know is that the pants do not rise to half of the thigh and that the scale marks those numbers).I have come to think that I can have some kind of food disorder, anorexia or some of that and that it really is my obsession but it is that ... I really do not fit my pants !!!And ... hey what worries me the most is that I think it's not fat (that if I had fattened, I watched ... it wasn't so bad, I would have to take care of myself because I have always been a chubby girl until I started with the DM1I started to lose weight, but the problem is that my legs, belly and breasts drew myself -and I'm not pregnant, discarded too -).
I do not know, I have read somewhere that the continued treatment with Lantus usually causes a tendency to gain weight so I told my endo this morning and the lantus has changed me by Levemir.Yes, yes I know it is a puncture more a day but ... it is not the greatest inconvenience that our beloved disease finds this ;-)
By the way ... my hemoglobin of today 10.6 (yes, I know that it is a burden but taking into account that in October I was 16 because ... I am in luck, hahahahahahahaha) if the one that is not comforted isBecause he doesn't want to

Bianca, do microalbuminuria control you?I guess yes ... With your background of retinopathy it is more likely that you can have a small problem of kidney functioning ... and perhaps that may be the explanation to your symptoms ...

I give by discarded thyroid problems and other autoimmune diseases ...

Well ... I imagine Owash. On Thursday my endo told me that in the analyzes everything was fine, except for clear sugar, but that the rest ok.Correct renal function (they tell me).Thyroid diseases ... that knows not, the last ultrasound went well.As for other autoimmune diseases ... uhmmmmmmmmmm, I would not rule out anything because it has lost me;What do you mean exactly?
Thank you ;-)

The most typical is the thyroid ... the list is very long ... normally type 1 we are more likely to have everything (except money: mrgreen :), I mean of any other autoimmune disease (those in which the ownbody reacts against itself).
The symptoms you describe do not believe in this type of disease, but I am neither doctor nor control all diseases.

Hahahahahahahaha ... How good and what truth less money ... We have everything !!!If my mother already says that "all fleas are close to a skinny dog" (or something).None are a doctor but the truth is that we are the best connoisseurs of ourselves, after all we stop having to endure our own body 24 hours a day 365 days a year and, sometimes, we know better the reactions ofOur body to certain things that doctors for many titles and eminences that are (and that it is clear that I am not discrediting their work, only that they see us for a little while, one day every so often and, with that the diabeticsWe are the sick who lied the most because ... many times they do not believe all the reactions we tell them).
I will continue to investigate ... hahahahahaha !!!By the way ... I've only been two days but ... impressive the stability that I am noticing in my glycemia with the lantus change - Levemir !!!!If I continue like this in my next appointment I will have improved any personal hemoglobin of the last 11 years !!!!(You'll see how something happens and spoils).
Muxus !!!

Hello,

Elvira, I agree with Owash. You must comment with your doctor and your educator. Also if you have had anorexia problems, maybe 8 kilos are not so much.It all depends on how your body is.I think they have to be doctors who determine whether it is excessive or not that weight gain.

Bianca, the swelling due to the lantus, I don't know, it never happened to me.On the contrary, when I have high levels I am more swollen than when I have normal levels. How insulin have changed now you will see if it is for the Lantus or not.Tell us how are you doing and if those discomforts have disappeared.
I'm glad you have lowered the hemo, very well, little by little.I threw myself many years with some we have 10-12, then I have thrown myself with many years, we are 8-9.And now I managed to lower it to less than eight.Come on, don't despair that there is always hope (there is hope if there is a bit of effort)

Greetings

Levemir is more stable than Lantus ... As much as they say, Lantus peak between 3 and 6 hours after injecting it, it does not always happen but the percentage of days in which that peak happens is considerable.

Levemir finds multiple advantages over Lantus:
- You can adjust doses every 12 hours
- In case of complicated work schedules it is easier to adjust
- Glymic stability, almost without a peak of action
- If you increase the dose you increase the duration
- It is even possible to spend the day with only 1 picnhazo
- When I climb or under dose I notice the effects right away ... with Lantus it took 2 or more days
- In my case, the initial dose adjustment was much simpler than with Lantus

Hello everyone !!!
I'm ... even scared !!!I have been with Levemir since last Thursday night and ... I have not gone from 180, nor a descent ... I do not understand how I can be so stabilized if I still eat the same amounts and the same foods as before and it looked like a Russian mountain.I am delighted !!!Let's see if it lasts ...
As for swelling because something I have lowered, not quite but I can get the majority of my pants again!Ok ... it will have nothing to do with the Lantus, I know there is no rational explanation, it will be psycho-somatic, I don't know ...
I'm still hallucinating with Levemir !!!
Gracuas to everyone !!!;-)

If I speak before ... little down last night but ... it was my fault.I calculated more HC than those that I finally had dinner (I forgot to eat the bread and then when I realized as I didn't feel like). After all, these things would not avoid the bomb.If ... go head of mine !!!Hahahahahahaha!
Good morning to everyone !!!
