Hello friends, I began with the insulin Levemir 100 two months ago and I have not managed to lower my glycemia levels from 300 and today I am with 500 and I feel quite bad.
I suffer from the disease 11 years ago and mainly use glucovance (metformin+glibenclamide) and lately saxagliptin, but this year I climbed over 300 and my doctor changed my pills for insulin. He tells me to be patient until this begins to take effect but I have my apprehensions with his explanation.I would like to know for your experience if it is effective that insulin takes effect or if I can use a novorapid for example to lower the glycemia that has really worried me.
Because of the lack of specialist, it takes an hour for more than two months. It is not a matter of lifting the phone and taking an hour.I thank you for any suggestion or explanation.

With that amount of sugar so very high it is normal that you do not find yourself well, I suppose you will give you dizziness and gut pain and a lot of more symptoms,
I would go to the emergency room to get it down but right now.

I have started today, for mine, I have injected mythorapid flexpen in doses of 10 or for each main meal (3) and 30 u of a levem in the morning when awakening.Last night I got 20 of the fast and fell asleep with 300. Today I woke up with 336. I hope to go down during the day.
I have 51 and 80 kg weight and I will start with 30 units of each type according to what I read in the prospect of each insulin.

Thanks for your comments.

20 units of rapida? It is a lot of insulin, which is more strange that you wake up with the high sugar
those guidelines were given to you the endocrine? How do you say that according to the propest I do not know .... it seems as if you bought insulin on your own
But isn't that right?

From my experience, I do not think you should inject more than 20 units of fast insulin at once, 20 already seems a lot.

On being above 300 for so long, you better go to a hospital and help you stabilize, above 200 for long term it is already bad, and for what you comment, you have been like that many weeks!

Hello Domenor,
In all these 11 years you have been, what kind of food have you taken?
For example, the day you wake up in 336 and go to bed in 300, what did you eat?

All the best

If you inject insulin of more when sleeping ... x Example 20unities and you have a value of 300 4 unique units and down to 100 and all the other is the 16 units in the food you will be able to use as an ex -adjustment 10 units of rapida eating many hydrates but evenSo they do not give the accounts ... Look at each fast insulin unit around 50 bone blood glucose points if you have 150 mg/dl of blood sugar in the blood you inject 1 fast unit and you will lower to 100 glycemia, but you could have insulin resistance thatIt would mean using more insulin and I do not have any remedy that the doctor indicates. Another of the things that if at night you run more from the account will be normal that you wake up higher, xq? xq while you sleep the body has a hypoglycemia and ifNo t wake up the body releases a sugar solo ... the liver has a reserba ... Looking for info sobro what we "rebound effect" after a low body responds with a high sugar :) There is a lot of talking x not m seelogical what you do ... Tell hydrates .... investigate

The Levemir lasts 12 hours, so you will have to put it twice a day.
The Lantus is the one that is put once a day, because it lasts 24 hours ..
In addition, before meals, a quick (Humalog or Novorapid) is always put to metabolize hydrates.
