open pre -registration for colonies for children with diabetes

The Association for Diabetes in Tenerife (ADT) has opened the deadline for pre -registration to the 2008 colony of children with diabetes from 8 to 13 years.This activity is declared of health interest by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands and has the collaboration of the Ministry itself, of Sanitary Public Institutions and some private companies.
The colonies and camps for children with diabetes are raised as conventional summer stays, with the usual leisure activities, but complemented with various educational actions related to the treatment of this disease itself.
The relaxed atmosphere, in contact with nature and far from hospital tensions or family anguish, and coexistence with other children also with diabetes, allows them to achieve a better adaptation of the treatment to the activity of each day, favoring developmentPersonal, improving the autonomy and self -control of the disease.
Most of the activities are those of the colonies or camps, but supervised by the team of professionals and complemented with a specific educational line for children with diabetes.The entire professional team participates in teaching activities, with the aim of giving comprehensive training.
