The Association of Diabetics of Cartagena (Sodicar) will start this weekend an informative campaign on the importance of the early detection of that disease, since many people suffer from it without knowing it and, therefore, they do not carry the recommended lifestylefor treatment.
To do this, the organization will carry out half a dozen acts on public roads in the next weeks and in large commercial surfaces of the city, the first one this Saturday, March 1, in the accesses of the El Corte Inglés shopping center.
The organization will install informative tables on diabetes and its treatment, and will perform free glycemia controls, with which the disease can be detected.
The objective of the association is to raise awareness among patients already diagnosed with the importance of following healthy control and lifestyle habits to control the disease and prevent possible complications.
In addition, it aims to alert about the importance of early detection, and detect possible cases of diabetes in people who do not know that they suffer from that ailment.
According to the data provided by Sodyd, in Cartagena there are about 30,000 people with diabetes, of which approximately 13,000 are not diagnosed.
