The emotional factor is basic in the treatment of diabetes

The treatment of a diabetes patient contemplates in the first instance the prescription of medications and nutritional indications, but an essential element is the emotional aspect, which is not always covered.

"Whoever receives the news that he is a patient with diabetes is affected his emotional state, because he faces a period of grief because from that moment he will lose health," says Marisol Zariñana Gómez, active partner of the Mexican Association of Educators in Diabetes Diabetes. The psychologist explains that even those who assume the news with good mood will go through episodes of depression that will face the rest of her life.Even demoralization can be caused by the doctor's scolding by not following the indications, such as carelessness by controlling their glucose levels.“51 percent of the budget for treatment is the contribution of the patient himself, which can decrease if he is educated in his illness.Although the correct word is to re -educate the patient, because he already has his habits and lifestyles, then he learns what he should eat, how and how much, to administer his medications, to do some exercise, but first of all knowing what it isDiabetes, ”says the educator.

The patient can find pretexts not to do so, such as having annoyance, the high cost or the misunderstanding of performing monitoring."Then, the educator is responsible for explaining why glucose should be measured to avoid complications, because as long as he does not accept the disease it will be more difficult for medical treatments to follow," says the mental health specialist.Another work of the educator when evaluating glucose levels is to teach the patient to puncture in the places where he can do it, because he usually does it in the finger yolk and gradually losing sensitivity or a callus is being done inthe skin; Then you can learn to do it also on the sides of the yolks, in any of the fingers.

The times that measurements should be made depending on each patient; The most common is that they are three times a day, although there will be those who require more.“The indicated thing is fasting, two hours after eating (when carbohydrates begin to do their function) and before doing physical activity; If there is any disease, glucose can be raised too, so there must be followed by the doctor's instructions, ”says Zariñana Gómez.

It has happened to me to demoralize me, even every so often or months I usually happen to me again because there is no times I do not get the control that I want or the last because the endocrine is unbearable with its bad manners what made me so heavy thatI stopped going.

It happened to me more or less the same as you Ajd ... my endocrine gave me colleges when he reached the waiting room and I was on his back ... and when he touched me, he told me that I did not do whatThey told me, that it happened from everything ... and it turns out that I was confused with another patient ... that was when I was smaller. When I had to move to adults, I changed hospital and now I did not change my doctor for anything in the world ... a shame, because the truth is that my adolescence in the sense of the Diebetes was a roller coaster, but well ..At least it is better late than ever, right?

Hi @Ajd,

We all have better and worse times, personally, the ones that affect me the most is when for no apparent reason, I start having hypoglycemia, and if I catch my travel, I don't even tell you ... they are very complicated days, and you do not know how to calculate theInsulina, it is a ordeal, but as I said, everything happens before or after !!!;-)

Well, I am in those moments because I cannot explain how I had the perfect controls a week and now doing the same is totally uncontrolled and that more than demoralizing me, I go down and it gives me a lot of anger ...

When I debute I had an endocrine that was horrible, I told me every day that I was going to die and that if something happened to me I would take my parents to trial (when my parents at that time did not leave me alone with the issue of controlling it)Yes, after this, they seem good to me to tell a 12 -year -old girl seemed very strong ...
A health to all !!!

Thank you for the animals, it is that now I am with a shoulder tendonitis that has been outsourced a bit because I do what I can in physiotherapy but what first that they have already told me 10 days ago is that the diabetics areThey cure worse and that demoralizes me.
I do the exercises that recommend me at home and the next day I arrived with my shoulder dusty to the session and that is why the physio thinks, and so it implied that, that I do nothing at home, and the shoulder together with the armcome to hurt and hurt.
It is a disgust.
