The “Diabetes in your neighborhood” campaign has resulted in great use in the detection of people at high risk of diabetes.

The Finsrisc test used for detection showed that 14.1% have a high risk of diabetes in the next 10 years.

Of the people between 50 and 69 years, 20.6% gave a high risk of diabetes in the next 10 years, well above the 14% that resulted in the same age group of the Predimerc study (2007).

Madrid, July 16, 2013-The campaignfrom Madrid during the month of May and June with the objectives of detecting the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and sensitizing about the importance of healthy eating and daily physical activity as the main way to prevent this type of diabetes that has become aWorld Pandemia.

This campaign has been carried out in the field of markets, since they are associated with the purchase of proximity that encourages an active life (physical exercise) and social contacts in the neighborhoods.To do this, the collaboration of the Madrid markets (General Directorate of Commerce and Economic Development of the Madrid City Council) and the Cocam (group of group of groups grouped and markets of the Community of Madrid) have been collaborated.

This activity is part of the Alas (Food, Physical and Health Activity) program of the healthy people of Madrid Health.

The 38 health professionals of Madrid Health, with the help of 6 volunteers of the Association of Diabetics of Madrid, conducted 982 Findrisc tests of which they were detected that 14.1% of people had a high risk of suffering diabetes.All have provided an appointment at the CMS (Madrid Health Center) closer to their home.
