My mother has said that you have sugar

juanqui2791's profile photo   03/07/2012 2:50 p.m.

The other day my son came from school, having that a partner of his had said "that his mother had said that you have sugar."My child replied that we all need sugar if you don't die.

Taking advantage that now at school they are talking about food, and that they ask for collaboration of the parents to go to tell some story etc ... I have thought about talking to the teacher and going to talk to them so that they understand what thediabetes. With some card, drawings etc.

And it would not come bad that the children explain it to their parents because seen what has seen a lot of ignorance and misinformation, of the people who do not have this problem.

And even less if they have to help someone with hypoglycemia.

Greetings,

To me what to call "I have sugar" diabetes makes me funny, I think it's a way of saying it, I know mothers who know a lot about diabetes and yet they say "look at the sugar" or "The child has sugar."
My son has diabetes since the age of three, his class compis have always lived with diabetes, with their measurements, with the pump etc, at first they asked but then they see it normal.I took the book and CD of Lenny of Medtronic to school, I know the children looked a lot at the book because my son told me.But well I have also met the typical funny and his comparsa, calling my son "explosion bomb", the father of the cherub is a doctor so I think he will know how to explain.Luckily does not go to school with these psychological terrorists, because there are days that as children: Twisted :.
You can go through the Diabetes Foundation page , there is enough material.
