Look, I am new to the Lantus, surely there are people who help you but you do not say what time you have breakfast ... What I would do is breakfast one more pelin and then instead of yogurt (although I do not know if it is normal or0%) if it is normal I would take something less .... Let's see what they tell you here, I will take it as an example for me, that any help is little ...

Try breakfast one more ration, to avoid the low number of mid -morning and thus have to take anything that brings to you glycemia.
You know, method of trial-error.

To modify Lantus you need to observe trends ... that is, see at least 1 week how values are.
That 1 day you get out results does not mean that you must change something ... Many factors influence glycemia, not just insulin, exercise or food.

The Pico de Lantus (which has it, does not always do so, but it has it) usually happens around 4-5 hours.

The explanation is that each person has their insulin needs, we cannot compare each other.I also put 12 units of Lantus and now with the bomb my total basal is also 12 units.

Hello!
A fast unit usually lowers glucose in 50 units, but that depends on the sensitivity of each. You have to try to see what is yours.
Does the Lantus last 24 hours, putting it at night?

Cakemgia, the high dinner post is fixed with the rapid. You can upload one more fast unit at dinner, not to reach 200.
If before dinner you are fine, then the Lantus does reach you.Do not lie down very fair, because I think it goes down a lot at night.

My daughter puts on the lantus in the morning, because at night they gave her hypos.

Good morning,

I am a rookie in this insulin, high sugar, etc., I have been putting the insulin Lantus a couple of months ago, in principle my endocrine I send me 8 units, two hundred -wwhich and something I did not go down and then I got the dose to 20 units, she told me that I gave me the dose by weight I have been putting it for almost a month and nothing, I am between 245-225 more or less a very timeOne day or two I believe, I do not take sugar, I try to minimize carbohydrates, etc etc, but I don't know .. next month I have a visit again with the doctor to see what he tells me.

He told me in the last visit that people regulate the doses depending on how they are and such, and I don't know if I could put more than 20 units to go down, or better wait.

In the beginning they prescribed my metformin but impossible, I caused me some bestial diarrhea with which I am clicking.

I get the dose, or do I hope?I did not have something even if it was natural that I could take to help.

Thanks in advance for your answers

Hi Olga (@olg@)!😊

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for sharing your experience so openly. You are taking a very important step when looking for information and support, and here we are here to help you in what we can.You are not alone in this!

On what you say, it is quite common to feel a bit lost at the beginning with insulin, especially if you do not see the expected results. The Lantus (basal insulin) acts slowly and constantly, and its effect is not always noticeable in glucose figures, especially if there are other factors that influence (stress, other medications, hormonal changes, etc.).

Your question about up or not the dose is very understandable, but the most recommended that this adjustment is always done with the approval of the endocrine. There are more experienced people who self -regulate, yes, but in initial stages it is better to go with lead feet, especially to avoid abrupt declines (hypoglycemia).Since you have the visit next month, you can take a daily record of your glucose, food and insulin doses. That will give the doctor a lot of information to decide more precision.

Metformin also happens to many people, don't worry. There are prolonged release versions that sometimes tolerate better, in case the doctor sees it appropriate later.

As for natural options, there are some things that can help improve insulin sensitivity (such as walking after meals, or incorporating more fiber and vegetables in the diet), but nothing replaces medical treatment, of course.Even so, in the forum there are several threads with practical advice on food and lifestyle that may surely interest you.

By the way, if you feel like understanding what means living with diabetes and how other people manage it (and their families!), I recommend the book"Live with diabetes: the power of the online community".It is full of real experiences and advice that can help you gain security and feel accompanied in this process. It can even be a good gift for someone nearby, to understand you better.💙

A lot of encouragement! Here we are for what you need.

@olg@, Hello, welcome to the forum.

As the endocrine told you, you have to adjust doses, the ideal is not to go from 180 after meals and wake up around 100, without night hypoglycemia.

I think you are going to have to upload doses, a Lantus unit usually goes down 50 glucose units, perhaps increasing a unit, but already expects the visit to the endocrine or consultation by phone with the educator.

When you go up dose it is important to measure yourself at night, to make sure you are not low.Just in case you will notice some night, always have a juice on the table.

Type 2 is easier to control and only slowly and without fast you will not be at risk of hypoglycemia.

You will already regulate it and get to know.It points controls and portions of hydrates, so you learn how each meal affects you.

A little patience and you will dominate it.

All the best.
