Hello everyone.

First, even before introducing me, thank you all for the valuable information, the dedication and the help you offer in this forum. It is an island in the desert for those who, like me, we entered this world that was totally alien to us until that day they tell you that you belong to him.

Indeed, from day to night, a little pee, another little to drink, a woman with a sixth meaning for her children, you go to the hospital and tell you that your son, at 11 years, is diabetic type 1. AndThe next second is already injecting insulin.Nothing you don't know most.
They informed us in September last year.Only 5 months ago.A first glycosada of 6.7 when he entered and another of 7.0 at 3 months ... and now, we believe, finishing the honeymoon.Treatment with Novorapid, Levemir and the scale everywhere.
We are with private endocrine. The only doubt is whether we should go through the hospital, at least to have "signed" for the day we wanted to opt for the bomb or other novelties (they arrive already, by God!).

I always try to read at least once a week. You have been helpful.I hope to return the favor when I have more tables in the matter.
I forgot! My name is Andrés and I am and I live in Madrid.

Welcome, Andrés, here we are on the same ship. The beginnings are very hard, but, as we get control, everything is calming down.
The Levemir gets twice a day, the lantus only one, so it is much more comfortable (there are no food or dinner schedules ...) you can ask the end of the reason for the Levemir instead of Lantus .. andYou tell me ...
Greetings

Welcome to the forum, Andrés ...
I am glad to read that the forum helps you, that is the intention of the same and of the users that we surround here every day.I hope you stay and you can contribute your experience too.
Why private endocrine? I don't know what hospital it corresponds to you, but in Madrid, for the moment, it does not seem that there are many problems with the specialists, and of course if you think about the topic bombs and others, we also know children from that area who have notI had difficulty getting it ... I am that I am a defender of the "public", although it is true that they run difficult times.
Much encouragement and here we are here to help you in what we can.
By the way, we are going to Madrid frequently, at some point you feel like a coffee ... my daughter is 13 years old.

Greetings

Welcome, Andrés.

I am with Velia.I took my daughter to a private, very prestigious endocrine. But I turned to the public, because, apart from the fact that we already pay social security, they have more means and are the best endocrine (there are also mediocre, it is a matter of choosing). And when putting a pump or prescribing anything, we are financed by the SS.

Thanks for your reception.

Why are Levemir instead of Lantus? No idea.I imagine that "Endo" has good experiences with Levemir. As for the moment we have a very good control, we do not consider a change.
Why private?Because when you have private insurance, you usually go to private emergencies. And there we encountered an emergency pediatrician who was endocrine and with a lot of diabetes experience. But of course, we have the question of whether we are losing something to not go for the public. The iron door would correspond to us.

Welcome Andrés.
You can continue in the private if it gives you confidence and be at the same time in the public, it does not have to be incompatible.

Welcome Andres and Carmen!
On the doubt you commented on the public hospital, I can tell you from my own experience (they treat me at La Paz hospital), they are magnificent ... at the Iron Gate, I have no information ... but I think, I am not sure, thatNow you can choose hospital, without having to go to the reference.
I have a friend with a 14 -year -old son (with heart problems), they treat him in the Infant Jesus, and the truth is also very happy.

Greetings to all .. :)

Thanks Olmo.

We already have an appointment in the public for a month. At least they have signed.

I take the opportunity to ask you: How do you get a "hem" of only 5.4?Congratulations!
The last one of my son has been 6.9.The values are always normal, between 70 and 150, with some isolated peak in 180-200 and some 50-60 downturn.
To give 5.4 I imagine that all controls should be of the order of 80, and also all equal, right?

Hi Andrés, how are you?
I have achieved this hemo, at first passing more hunger than Lazarillo de Tormes ... :)) Now not so much ... carrying a very strict diet (as you say, with the tilter everywhere) although over timeIt is already done by the eye of a good cubero, the exercise is important too.The profiles that I make of them usually give between 80 and 90 before eating, and the post -high posts of 160 (even eating fatty foods, cheese ...) I only wear lantus and very little in addition, the apidra withdrew it to the3 months, I'm still on honeymoon. What I have frequently are hypos, like this more than 3 hours without eating anything, it already gives me the downturn.
What you commented on the novelties, advances ...The children of the age of your child and those of the rest that you participate in this forum, in the not too distant future you will see great advances, and in the meantime never to be discouraged.
Greetings to all;)

I have been currently 40, I have been 40, it is bestI say that I continue to compete and give cane to many normal people with my bicycle, apart from running half marathons and some marathon that another, in the end the best doctor turns yourself over time, since the endocrine its function is to monitor thatYou have no complications and adapt the doses with a certain criteria, I just put an insulin bomb I will comment here that such results gives me, I hope you have no strong hypoglycemia that has always been my big problem, comment that I am already 27 years old in diabetic withoutNo type of complication, in addition to having two children, as you can see, you can live the same, calm and live with current therapies not to give false spectatives of healing that at the moment do not exist, since I with 13 years already say that the solution was, I hope this close but at the moment we have to assume what we have, luck and encourage that the world does not end.
