Low quality insulin needles in Madrid

"When you have to click between three and five times a day, a minimal difference in needles can reduce the life warm of the diabetics to the point of having anxiety and fear before each puncture," says Juan Antonio Illescas, president, presidentof the Federation of Diabetics of the Community of Madrid.

Madrid diabetics denounce that insulin needles distributed by health are of low quality and cause important complications. No other autonomous community buys these brands already. In addition, one of the brands recently bought by the Community of Madrid was already withdrawn from competition in the Basque Country, Valencia, Extremadura, Navarra and Galicia."Madrid has bought and distributed among the diabetics some needles withdrawn in other communities because they cause health problems to users."The consequences "a much more intense pain, unnecessary tear of the skin, bruises and spills, loss of insulin due to needle defects, problems penetrating the needle into the skin and a long etcetera," adds Illescas.Sources from the Community of Madrid recognize that these needles "exceed quality sampling."They also say that in 2010 a single product will be launched and the most accepted by patients throughout the national level. "

Madrid diabetics announce mobilizations if the community does not immediately withdraw these needles and threaten to collapse the health system by going to their social security centers daily to be treated by an ATS.“After requesting a meeting with Esperanza Aguirre and Juan José Güemes, the vice -councilor Ana Sánchez met with Patricia Flores, general director of Primary Care, and the affected managers."They promised that, in future competitions, the quality would be tested by the diabetics, the only users."However, in a recent contest in area 11, the denounced needles have been awarded for 2010."Our only intention is to improve the quality of life of diabetics."

Ainssss that "beautiful memories" ... if Buddhist would believe that the needle adjudication contests are reincarnated in each autonomy.

The words of the Madrid politicians are the same as we heard in Valencia 4 years ago .... I hope the solution arrives before.

The shameful thing about the subject is that neither in Madrid, neither in Valencia nor anywhere talk about the needle reuse rate: Twisted :://
In Valencia, roughly, we would touch about 450 needles a year per patient.
That means that the vast majority of patients reuse needles, at least 3 times.

But of course, this is not interested in speaking, politicians are interested in this discussion ... If they try to avoid the reuse of needles the economic cost would be much greater ... issue of numbers.
The usual, they are interested in their armchair, spending money on what they want and feels like it, but the health of their fellow citizens care about a pepper.

Owash, totally agree with you. What we had to fight here to have "decent" needles ...
In addition to the budget issue of the Ministry, there is also the issue of the commissions that the houses offer in exchange for their products ...
