Dr. Alfonso López Alba, endocrinologist at the Canary Islands University Hospital, has decided to leave his post and return to his homeland, Asturias. The Tenerife Diabetes Association (ADT) has wanted to publicly thank him for his work, since thanks to his effort the Congress of the Spanish Diabetes Society for the first time in the Archipelago could be held.

"Here we did not know what the authentic dimension of the diabetes problem was or where to face it, but López Alba insisted on changing the status quo of diabetes," recalls the vice president of the ADT, Vicente Darias.
