"Played by diabetes" at the "La Pocilla" Cultural Center
The contest tries to sensitize the disease

The Diabetics Association of the Sierra de Madrid, Adisa, brings this weekend the international competition "Inspired by diabetes" to Galapagar. It will be Saturday, February 21, from 12 noon, at the “La Pocilla” cultural center.
"Inspired by diabetes" was devised from the 2007-2008 campaign of World Diabetes Day dedicated to children and adolescents living with the disease, or at risk of suffering from it, worldwide.

The idea is to gather diabetic patients, their families, friends, health professionals, etc., around the world's fight against disease and offer their support to people who do not have the necessary resources to combat the disease. Thus, the awards granted consist of donations for the “Life for a child” program of the International Diabetes Federation, which facilitates access to medicines to children without resources.

"The objective of the contest is to describe, with words or with images, which means the disease," explains Pilar Martínez, president of Adisa. Those who want to participate have two options. The first is to go on Saturday 21 to "La Pocilla" and do his work there to give it to the organization.“It is especially for children. There will be monitors and a diabetes educator who will give them a simple explanation to understand the disease. But there is also the possibility that adults participate, people affected by diabetes or not, who can take their works done and fill in a file there, ”explains Martínez. The works presented in Galapagar will be part of the Spanish part of an international competition that will be failed within a few months.

The idea of all this is above all to sensitize, explains the president of Adisa."Also teach children who have companions with diabetes what the disease means, educate the population."If they cannot go to Galapagar's appointment this Saturday will have a new opportunity on Friday, February 27 at the Alpedrete Cultural Center.
