Hello, this recent article on how the debut of diabetes in Jay Cluter, elite athlete in the USA affected.Very interesting to realize that many of us go through a similar experience, yes, without going out in the press.;-)

"You don't have energy, you don't want to do anything"
Jay Cutler reveals how diabetes influenced her performance last season

Englewood - Jay Cutler now recognizes that he should have realized that something was wrong last season, when he lost more than 15 kilos of weight, and also lost a good part of the famous power in his releases.

For diabetes, Cutler lost more than 15 kilos in 2007

"He had no energy," recalled the third year marshal of the Denver Broncos."At that time we thought it could be stress, or wear of the season. But when I returned this year for the first training, I had not regained strength, and kept losing weight."

Before starting the low seasonal training program, the team demands routine blood tests for players, and Cutler's revealed the problem: the blood sugar was five times higher than normal.

Immediately, doctors told the 25 -year -old Marshal who was diabetic, and that he would be dependent on insulin for the rest of his life. They explained the seriousness of the disease, and its serious ramifications if it is not controlled.

"It is overwhelming to hear all that, and realize that your life will change completely," said Cutler."It is not something that will leave. It is something that I will have to deal with my whole life, and I must accept it."

The Marshal said he never feared his career was in danger.

"That was the first thing they told me: 'This will affect your lifestyle, but you can continue playing in the NFL'," Cutler emphasized."I am not the first athlete with diabetes, and I will not be the last."

Other professional athletes who lived with diabetes and had successful careers include Wade Wilson, Mariscal de la NFL;The stars of tennis arthur ashe and Billie Jean King;Bobby Clarke, NHL star;Ty Cobb, member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, and the prominent boxers Joe Frazier and Sugar Ray Robinson.

While Cutler controls your illness with exercises, medication and diet, there are no medical reasons that prevent you from continuing to play in Denver. You will have to monitor your blood glucose during the matches, and take a gatorade if the sugar falls, or apply an insulin injection if sugar levels rise.

"I will have many specialists watching me," Cutler said."It will not affect me on the field of play. The only changes will be out of the field, in my meals and things."

Cutler revealed that he has recovered almost 10 kilos since insulin began to inject, after the disease was diagnosed a month ago.

"I feel great. I feel 100 times better," he exclaimed."The difference is tremendous. It is difficult to explain how I felt before. You don't have energy, you don't want to do anything, you sleep a lot. A point came where I couldn't get up in the morning. I was pale, I was thin, I couldn't run. It was enoughdramatic".

Cutler's story includes all classic diabetes symptoms: inexplicable weight loss, constant thirst, lack of energy, frequently urinates. But he never suspected this disease, for not dragging family history.

Recruited with the 11th global selection of the 2006 Draft, Cutler launched for almost 3,500 yards and 20 touchdowns last campaign, but the bronchos were left outside the playoffs for the second consecutive year.It was obvious, as the season progressed, that his arm force was not the same as in his year as a rookie, when he started in the last five weeks of the campaign.

"I will not blame this disease for the results of last year, butThere were really releases to which I couldn't give them the strength I wanted, "Cutler recalled." I was able to go to the field and play, but I didn't have all my energy.I was tired. After the matches I was completely exhausted. In some games I did not do too much.Something was wrong. "

Cutler knows that from now on there will be great changes in his life.

"It's a great adjustment," he said."At 25 you are used to eating whatever. Now I must eat healthy, and bring insulin, needles, the glucose meter with me. It is a big change, but it is something that I will have to deal with."

At the same time, Cutler wants to send an encouraging message to fans.

"This is a very serious disease, and I will suffer from the rest of my days," he said."I will take a different lifestyle, but within the field I will probably be a better marshal this year of what I was last year."
