Diabetes and kidney stones

Diabetes is a chronic disease, which once declares itself accompanies us during the rest of our life.Unfortunately, one of its distinctive characteristics is the risk of complications. Many times we have referred to the main risks, which affect very important organs: the eyes, the heart, the arteries of the members, the kidney and the nerves. They are those called chronic diabetes complications, which are currently well identified.Fortunately, there are many resources to treat them.
But in addition to the risks of complications, there are some diseases that can affect any person, but for which diabetics have greater predisposition. One of these conditions is the formation of kidney stones.

Those uncomfortable and painful stones

The so -called renal calculations are formations of solid consistency, which may have various sizes, and that are formed in the urinary route.
When moving through the ducts that transport the urine outwards, they can cause inflammation, small bleeding and even pain. But also, if the size is important and are located in strategic sites, difficulties can be recorded to the urinary passage (urinary retention), which in turn causes the risk of urinary infections.Recall that urinary infections are one of the possible reasons that can lead to the decompensation of diabetes.

Diabetes and kidney stones

Recently, the results of an American investigation were published that established that people with type 2 diabetes have a higher risk of developing kidney calculations formed by uric acid, due to the acidity conditions of their urine. It is interesting to note that the authors of this study, led by Dr. Khayar Sakhaee, established that the greatest tendency to form concretions (calculations) of uric acid would be in relation to insulin resistance, a characteristic fact of type diabetes of the type2. The more obesity, experts affirm, greater chances of developing this type of urinary calculations.

An aggravating circumstantial fact is that, not being visible to X -rays (as with the calculations that contain calcium), it is more difficult to detect them and therefore can increase in size and go unnoticed until they give symptoms.

As a general recommendation, if you are diabetic, consider that the control of diabetes can also be useful to reduce the risks of this ailment, as with others we have referred to.On the other hand, it is convenient to insist on the importance of consuming adequate amount of liquids and following harmonic diets, which are not exceeded in proteins of animal origin.

Faced with the slightest doubt or if he suffers from repeated urinary infections, it is convenient to consult his header, particularly if he has a history of high uric acid figures.
