Hello everyone!

There is a very special food of autumn that is good for the heart, diabetes, cholesterol and osteoporosis: chestnuts.Surely you have noticed the characteristic smell of roasted chestnuts in the streets when it starts cold. This fruit is the king of autumn along with the mushrooms.

Chestnuts are a very versatile food that can be consumed boiled, roasted or even in sweet form, such as the famous "brown glacé" in France. However, it is important not to consume them raw due to their tannin content, which can be harmful to people with kidney or liver problems.

Chestnuts are the dry fruit with lower caloric content, which makes them ideal for those who seek to control their weight. They are rich in fiber, which helps intestinal transit, and in complex carbohydrates, which provide energy sustained. In addition, they contain phosphorus, potassium and vitamin C, strengthening the immune system.

For every 100 grams, chestnuts contribute:
- 185 calories
- 3 grams of proteins
- 36 grams of carbohydrates
- 2.6 grams of fats (only 0.3 are saturated)
- 6.8 grams of fiber
- 34 milligrams of calcium
- 500 milligrams of potassium
- 250 milligrams of phosphorus
- 36 milligrams of magnesium
- 11 milligrams of sodium
- 6 milligrams of vitamin C
- 0.9 milligrams of iron
- 0.6 milligrams of vitamin B3
- 0.5 milligrams of vitamin E
- 0.33 milligrams of vitamin B6

Thanks to their calcium and magnesium content, chestnuts can help prevent osteoporosis, a disease that weakens bones and increases the risk of fractures. In addition, sunbathing to obtain vitamin D and exercise regularly are also key to maintaining bone health.

In Spain, the prevalence of diabetes is 14.8%, and many people are not diagnosed, which increases the risk of serious complications.Chestnuts, with their high fiber content and fatty acids, help reduce blood glucose levels and avoid hypoglycemia, providing energy sustained.

Chestnuts are rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which help reduce 'bad' cholesterol and blood lipids.According to the Spanish Heart Foundation, its consumption can decrease the body mass index, the circumference of the waist and systolic blood pressure, thus reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Although chestnuts are not a miraculous product, they do contribute to improving many important variables for our health.

So, do not hesitate to include them in your diet this fall!

A very fast way to do them is in the microwave.
They are not as good as roasted, but ... almost.

Cut the skin. Two cross cuts are worth.Put in the microwave at maximum power. And staying, because time depends on how wet ones they are.

As soon as you see steam and tarnish the glass, pour it.It is not usually much more than a minute.

Less, they are not made.More, they harden.

Good morning.
I do not understand why, but the chestnuts bestially raise glycemia ...
Like three or four and I can put myself at 400 mg/dl, and also quite fast.It costs me horrors to download it with novorapid and exercise.
I have it internalized as prohibited to me.I would say that it is one of the things that most raise my levels, but I have never managed to understand the reason ...

I love roasts, but I can't eat them, glucose is put in the clouds.I don't like raw too much.I do not sulked me insulin but I have already assumed that some foods I cannot eat them or only in very small quantities, and the chestnuts is one of them.I am unable to eat three chestnuts, if I do, behind a few more.So, 0 chestnuts. & Nbsp;
