Hello,
I agree that it is discriminatory to make us renew before those who provide the doctor's reports and worry about bringing good diabetes control. That said, I think it is a very bad idea to hide our diabetics status to the DGT.I already wrote it in this same forum years ago.Disgustees the reasons:
1. In case of a serious accident, deep investigations are made, and medical records are requested and hospitals cannot be denied if they ask for, for example, a judge. There comes our debut date as diabetics and is not modifiable afterwards.
2. If you take friends, acquaintances or family in the car with you and have an accident they will probably know that you are diabetic. If you have a serious accident and interrogate them, they can declare that you are diabetic and you will be evidenced.
3. Insurers do not like to pay great compensation in case of serious accidents. They usually hire detectives to try to escape and hang the "dead" to you as drivers who did not carry the driving license in order.
4. If we take into account the annual amortization costs of a car, insurance, circulation taxes, tolls, fuel, parking, maintenance and cleaning expenses, etc.In the end the renewal of the card every 5 years is not such an exaggerated expense.I always look for offers, discount coupons, to go to the cheapest medical center than I find.
5. Perhaps the most important reason: carry all the papers in order the day you have a traffic accident, it is priceless.I have had a motorcycle accident with two other vehicles involved (I and another person with physical injuries) and you do not know what I appreciated at that time having everything in order.
I invite everyone to reflect. No one is safe from having an accident, no matter how good history as a driver he had so far. There are "savings" that can be very expensive.
Greetings and be careful,

1. In the event of a serious accident, in-depth investigations are carried out and medical records are requested, and hospitals cannot refuse to provide them if requested, for example, by a judge. Our debut date as diabetics appears there and it cannot be modified later.
2. If you have friends, acquaintances or family members in the car with you and you have an accident, they will probably know that you are diabetic. If you have a serious accident and they are questioned, they can declare that you are diabetic and you will be exposed.
3. Insurers do not like to pay large compensations in case of serious accidents. They usually hire detectives to try to get away and hang up on you as drivers who did not have a valid driver's license.
4. If we take into account the annual depreciation costs of a car, insurance, road taxes, tolls, fuel, parking costs, maintenance and cleaning, etc.In the end, renewing your license every 5 years is not such an exaggerated expense.I always look for offers, discount coupons, to go to the cheapest medical center I can find.

Greetings and drive carefully,
I'm not going to debate your arguments and reflections, but I would really like to open the debate on whether this measure is for "road safety" or for making money.
I would like the measure adopted with medical circumstances to be adopted in the same severe manner for those drivers who at some point have tested criminally positive for alcohol and drugs, which does not happen and although their license is withdrawn and such... after some time they get back behind the wheel without any restriction regarding the length of validity of their permit.
I would also like to know, since the DGT is very given to this, in its statistics how many accidents have occurred by people with a disease that limits the validity of their permit.
DMT1 desde los 12 años (1991)
hbA1c= 6,2
Humalog y Toujeo (mayo 2017)
Humalog y Tresiba (mayo 2016 hasta mayo 2017)
humalog y NPH (desde inicio hasta mayo de 2016)
@Luvi I'm sure that in the statistics they include "recklessness", the rest, alcohol or drugs.
There are limitations for everything: hypertension, hypothyroidism, depression, anxiety,.... I doubt these people will be asked in case of an accident.
Lada enero 2015.
