Hello good,
I have type 1 diabetes for 30 years, and I am the father of two children; The other day my endocrine told me that there was the option, through a blood test, to know if the children will be diabetic along climb.
Has anyone undergoing these tests?Would you do it in your case?
If positive you can do nothing to remedy it, rather than waiting for the day to arrive and if it is positive it is a joy
Would you do it?
thank you so much

Well, in July, a consensus document of Spanish societies of endocrinology and nutrition, pediatric and diabetes (SEEN, SEEP and SED) societies in which it is recommended to screy pancreatic antibodies in first -degree relatives of patients with type 1 diabetes is recommended.
Here areinfographicsAnd here you have theComplete document.
The idea they pursue is to perform glucose tolerance tests in relatives of diabetics with antibodies to prevent the debut from being in the form of severe decompensation (such as diabetic ketoacidosis), that is, it is to do something.
I sincerely give me respect, but I think I will end up doing my children according to these recommendations.

We already know the symptoms and there is no greater prevention than that.
Why worry more.
I would not do it if they do not give any solution but the prevention of ketoacidosis, but for that we have the glucometer or a simple urine strip.

I would do it, total you will not be able to avoid it by having the predisposition.
The same for any disease, it is better to know what one is exposed and if it happens, not alarmed.
