December, a month to hug each other a little more

Hello family,

Today begins December, a month that many of us live with a mix of emotion, memories and also the occasional lump in the throat. For those of us who live with diabetes—and for those who walk alongside us—these weeks can stir many things: celebrations, imbalances, doubts... but also love, support and the desire to move forward.

And that's why today I just wanted to remind you of something:we are not alone.

This forum exists to accompany us, to catch our breath when necessary and to feel that, no matter what happens, there is always someone here who understands what we are experiencing.

🌟 December is special.

It is a month to listen to each other, to share our stories, to learn together and to celebrate every small step, every achievement and every day in which we show ourselves that we can do everything.

🎁A gift that embraces: “Living with diabetes: The power of the online community

If you are thinking of a nice gift for this Christmas—for yourself, for someone you love, or for that person who accompanies you without really knowing how to help you—this book could be just that: a hug in the form of pages.

It talks about us, about our silent struggles, about our victories, about what it means to live with diabetes and how important it is to feel a supportive network.

Many have read it and say that it has helped them, moved them, or simply made them feel company. And furthermore, every copy purchased helps keep this forum alive and free, as it has been for so many years.

💙 Giving it as a gift is an act of affection. And also an act of support for this community that gives us so much.

I wish you a December full of moments that add up, of people who hug and knowing that, although diabetes never rests, we don't stop taking care of each other either.

Here we are.Always.

The introduction has been good for, as the great Paco Umbral said, "I have come to talk about my book."

On these dates, what is socially attributed to family, happiness, love, etc. There are also those who remind him of his loneliness, agony, sadness, etc.

Added to the great gift that destiny gave us at some point, having diabetes.

As for the rhetoric of the forum company... It is rather a place that, under anonymity, allows me to express what I would not otherwise do and it is much easier to find an opinion or point of view that is the same or different, but in the end it is like someone who has a blog and just writes.

Because as you say, the life of living with diabetes is in another reality that is not this obtuse and empty digital one.

The visits to the endocrinologist continue to amaze me in terms of the waiting rooms, everyone who is there has one or another diabetes, when you look at someone it's like "don't look at me because I don't have the same diabetes as you."I have rarely seen conversations between patients and even in the recent recycling course there are those who find it difficult to talk about their habits as diabetics, we are strangers with diabetes, but mainly strangers and here it is the same, with the difference mentioned above.

Thanks for your comment, @LuVi

And thank you also for bringing such an honest look, because sometimes it is difficult to put words to everything that many of us feel and rarely say.

It's true: December is not bright for everyone. For some people it reconciles them with family and affection... and for others it reminds them of shortcomings, grief, silence or simply tiredness.Diabetes doesn't help either, because it is there, insistent, without party or respite. And everyone deals with it as they can, from where they can.

Regarding what you say about anonymity, I agree. This forum does not replace real life - nor does it intend to - but it is a place where many of us find something that is sometimes missing: freedom to say what weighs us down, what frustrates us and what we do not usually say even in the endocrinologist's waiting room.

Out there we are “strangers with diabetes.”Here, at least, we are strangers who understand each other. And that, although it may seem like little, sometimes it is a lot.

And on the subject of the book, I totally agree with your nod to Threshold 😂.I also laugh at that phrase because it is true that in the end I end up mentioning it... but also because I know that I am not talking about “the book” itself, but about what it represents: our stories, what we share here, what unites us even though each life is different. And, above all, the possibility of keeping this space alive, which for many people is the closest thing to a support network they have ever had.

In the end, what I take away from your message is something important: that even when we feel alone, there is a community that listens. And that, even if it is from behind a screen, we continue to accompany each other in our own way, imperfect but real.

Thank you for being here, for saying what you think and for remembering that diabetes does not define us... but it affects us all in different ways.

A big hug, and may this December be as bearable as possible. Here we are, together, as always.💙
