People with diabetes have a 73% higher risk of suffering a heart attack

Today I read a piece of news that, honestly, left me silent for a while.It said that people with diabetes have up to a 73% higher risk of suffering a heart attack, in addition to a higher risk of stroke, heart failure, kidney problems... figures that are impressive when you see them like this, in the cold.

And I'm not going to lie to you: as a person with diabetes, this news stirs inside.Because we are behind the percentages.Our daily routine.Our silent fears.The nights when hypoglycemia wakes you up with a start or the days when you do “everything right” and still the numbers don't add up.

What has made me think the most is not only the risk itself, but something that many of us already know: many of these complications advance without showing their faces.They don't hurt, they don't warn... until one day they appear.And that's when you wonder if you could have done something before, if someone explained it to you clearly or if you had the necessary support.

I have also had to read that diabetes does not affect everyone equally: income, access to resources, medical follow-up, and the support you have around you influence.And that hurts, because living with diabetes is already demanding enough without doing so in inequality.

If I take anything from this news, it is a clear idea: we cannot live in fear, but neither can we live in indifference.Taking care of ourselves today is a gift for our “self” of the future.And do it accompanied, much more.

Much of that percentage goes to type 2. And I understand that among cases without appropriate control.It may seem like I'm being optimistic, but I know elderly people with type 1 diabetes who are still there.So if I reach 80 in those conditions, I'm satisfied.

I had a cardiology study recently for aamaurosis fugax,I think it's called and the cardiologist told me that type 2s tend to have more complications than type 1s and the reason was that she told me, type 1s have insulin to inject, type 2s don't usually use, the mother of a friend of mine was type 2 and when she binged she went 2 hours later to the emergency hospital and that's how they went for years, meals at the hospital, and she refused to take insulin or take pills because she said she wasn't diabetic.

In my case, the heart and brain have turned out perfectly well, the fundus of the eyes are normal, so that episode of TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack) has remained unanswered...

With an HB1AC of 6.7 and I use the freestyle libre 2

Exactly the difference between type 1 and 2 diabetes is that type 2 diabetes does not usually control itself like type 1 diabetes, since we have more control through the use of insulin, type 2 diabetes takes it with pills and lives, which in principle seems like an advantage, which I am not saying is not, but a disadvantage is control, we have to have more control but that is our advantage.
