Hello, as I see in the comments, I am new and new to type 1 diabetes mellitus, since I was diagnosed in 2017 and I am currently 59 years old.Due to my little experience, especially since I have had the sensor for a year, I have detected that it also affects the mental state (anxiety, depression, etc...) and then I also have very different levels starting from the same level, examples:morning 1 level 140, breakfast, 4 of humalog and at 2 hours 107, tomorrow 2 level 146, breakfast, 4 of humalog and at 2 hours 293, the initial level is similar, breakfast identical, the days are consecutive, these variations are something that I do not understand..., otherwise I am more or less taking the glycates well.

It matters a lot if you have rested well during the night. If you are worried or stressed and you can't sleep, your blood glucose levels will be unpredictable the next day.

Welcome @JP!😊

The first thing: nothing “newbie”… you have been living with this since 2017, and that is already having a long way to go.What is happening to you, furthermore, is something very common, although at first it is very disconcerting.

Regarding those big differences with the same breakfast and the same insulin… it is totally normal as far as possible.Diabetes doesn't work like an exact formula. There are days when the body responds in one way and others when, doing the same thing, it responds completely differently. And many times the reason is not obvious.

The mental state influences a lot.Anxiety, stress, or simply having had a bad day can cause glucose to rise higher than expected.Rest also plays a huge role: poor sleep can cause you to need more insulin the next day without realizing it.Added to this is that insulin absorption is not always the same and that the body itself changes from one day to the next.

And what you have detected is very important: the emotional part. This isn't talked about as much as it should be, but diabetes is also managed with your head, not just numbers. When the mind is loaded, control becomes more difficult, and it is not your fault.

Over time you learn to see trends more than specific days and to give yourself a little leeway. Not everything has an exact explanation, but the whole is better understood.

You are not alone here.We are all learning to live with that “unpredictability” 💙
