I'm going on a study trip for 6 months.I need them to advance my medication.They have told me that this has to be done by the family doctor, but I am having a lot of problems because it seems that they cannot give me advance notice for more than 60 days.
Has anyone encountered a similar situation?What have you done or how would you do it?

I understand that if you explain the situation to your family doctor, he or she will be able to give you advance medication.I guess you need to increase the number of units of insulin you use per day so you can pick them up at the pharmacy.
I think that every time they increase the number of daily units, even if it's just a couple of units, they are immediately available to pick up at the pharmacy, at least that's what happened to me in BCN.
You should repeat this process with your doctor, increase, increase, increase, increase, until you reach the amount of insulin you need.It's just a proposal, and I'm not sure if it can be done like this, but eIn any case they should be able to give you the solution.

In addition to what they have mentioned, another option that you could try is to speak directly with the pharmacy in your area to explain the situation, sometimes they have more information or can help you deal with the doctor.
Also making sure you bring travel documentation can make it easier for the doctor to take you seriously and speed up the process. Have you tried making an in-person appointment or calling several times to explain the urgency?
Sometimes telephone service can be more limited. What exactly did the doctor tell you when you asked for the advance?
