It is true that after a total extraction, soft diets are usually loaded with carbohydrates, but making homemade purees with vegetables such as zucchini, pumpkin or broccoli can help keep blood glucose more controlled, in addition to combining it with some pureed protein such as chicken or very well crushed fish. It can also be useful to divide meals into smaller portions so as not to overload the body too much at once and thus help prevent sugar from getting out of control.
Inflammation and medications, especially pain relievers or antibiotics you are prescribed, can also affect glucose levels. It is important to be aware and take the usual measures to avoid hyperglycemia.
Finally, some here comment that staying in close contact with the endocrinologist or diabetes educator on those days helps to adjust the guideline a little if necessary, something that doesn't hurt when eating habits change so much.
