Good night, I am type 1 diabetic 50 years ago and on my last visit to the endocrine (not the usual one) my LDL results have been 60, Ezetimiba has scheduled to lower my LDL below 50, I am already taking simvastatin. I have HDL 36 LDL 60 What do you think about adding Ezetimiba to my current medication? Thank you so much

@Malpi: We have a good one to which we have long evolution diabetes.According to the latest studies we have the same cardiovascular risk as a person who has already had a heart attack or other cardiovascular event (ECV).That is why they now require us to have the "bad" cholesterol below 50 and if it is not achieved with the statins because you have to try that medication that has been prescribed.I have read all that on my own.My endocrine rose me the 1 mg pitavastatin to 4 mg suddenly.Faced with my doubts, he just said "with 2 mg we will not reach 50".And here all his explanation ended.
Thanks Ricki21 The truth is that lately I have the feeling that the visits to endo could save them, they do not leave the graphic no matter howThey contribute anything ...
@Malpi I am the first to take care of the obsession sometimes ... but I think there are times that they ask us for exaggerated figures. It is clear that the more controlled everything ... except problems for patients and for them. But reaching figures that cannot be obtained without medication ... I don't know what cost in the future. We are not machines. Not even people who are not diabetic reaches those goals ... To me on the last visit he told me that figures that are not natural are required, it can only be achieved artificially ... At the moment I do not take them, because I am trying to lower the gyrose in case I could have a baby, but it seems excessive ... I know that we have much more chances of risks, in general in everything ... but we also play with the random factor ...
I don't know if I'm explaining well ... so many pills, to have so much control, I don't know in the long run ... And I'm not denialist eh?hahaha, but so much chemistry ...

I do not take statins at the moment, and I am DB of long evolution. They also have their side effects, can inflame the liver, produce muscle breakage and above all, in our case, insulin resistance. And the latter is what we lacked long evolution. The CV risk is not due to cholesterol or LDL, it is because of glycemia out of rank for many years, and that is what gives risk in everything.

They sent me static with a LDL of 58 and an HDL of 90 I took tropecientes finished in "tatinas", they all sat me badly, until they sent me the ezetrol and got to have a LDL of 25, finding me badly. My gynecologist and general medicine told me to stop taking them now! Colesterol has a function in cells that if you lower it to those levels harms you in other things So feeling it for my endocrine, which pretends that I arrive at 10 from LDL, because there is a study that says that the Eskimos are 10 and live a mogollón .... I do not plan to take anything until it goes up above 70 !!!! I've been diabetic for 44 years and I have lived so many studies and fashions, which I think is many times more common sense ... It is my opinion

And since this topic is open ... What are the acceptable cholesterol levels? It is that on the Internet there are disparate figures. When I debuted in September, I had LDL 120 cholesterol and HDL 35 cholesterol, and I have read on the Diabetes Foundation website that a diabetic person should try to lose 100, but namely ...

The total is up to 200, but that is not the important thing but the HDL q the higher the better, 35 is low, the LDL is 100 or less, that without more risk, if there is cardiovascular risk, as it is supposed in our case, much less. But when you ask for lipid profile there are HDL/ LDL quotients and others that give you the risk, the apo a and the support ..., the best low triglycerides, and within the LDL, if they are small and dense particles they are atherogenic and the large and the largeNummy not. As you can see, it is not only the total cholesterol
