Couple Diabetes: UCI ketoacidosis

Good morning, my partner and father of my two children has been diabetic T1 for 20 years (debut with 19).This week has been at the ICU for ketoacidosis. He has acknowledged that he has been lacking for 8 years and that he often does not put insulin and much less measure. It seems that he has seen the wolf's ears ... we'll see!He has a quite "traditional" diabetes vision, protein dish and small portion of vegetables and hydrates ... He doesn't want to put the arm device, he tried it and says he doesn't want to live with a needle on his arm.

I am to read and look for everything I do not understand.I see that the thing has evolved, but I am lost.I don't know if you can give me 4 ideas where to start looking for info. And if there are any type of devices that make the most bearable matter.

Thank you.

@Beaar: The 4 pillars of diabetes management are: medication (insulin), exercise (avoid sedentary lifestyle), feeding (control of the amount of hydrates, fats and proteins) and self -control (sensor and glucometer).Your partner needs diabetological education (Endocrine, Diabetes Specialist Nurse) and perhaps psychological help to finish accepting that it has a chronic disease. Diabetes is no nonsense. Or you control or end with you ...

I subscribe what Ricki21 said.I just add that it is in your partner to take care of yourself, if you do not want to put your batteries no matter how much you strive to read and inform you anything will serve.
As basic for control is the sensor (the one that does not want to wear a "needle" nailed), which neither shows and makes you see how your body responds to food and exercise.
But as I have told you, it depends on him, which is reported and cared for by the account that brings him.
