Hello.

I have more or less 1 year with DM1 diagnosis. Now with 42 years.

I had a rather heavy debut as it happens to many with type 1. 10 kilos lost in a few weeks, with infinite thirst and tiredness that no matter how sleep it did not go.

The antibody test has been positive, 360 on an empty stomach and glycosilada on the 13th I think I remember ...

Hospital high with 40u from Basal and about 60u of Ràpida before meals and to correct.

It had a fairly high insulin resistance. What I don't know if it's normal for a debut in DM1, right?

Anyway, luckily I have now been able to lower the basal to 10U and I do not need quickly (my honeymoon started after varied months from the debut). My latest analytics are 4.9 glycosilada and fasting about 120 ...

I still have many doubts and I hope to learn here with all of you.

Thank you!!

If you take care of yourself, the honeymoon lasts a lot, it also depends on your reservation at the time of debut.I spent a year and something, then I needed quickly at meals, a unit nothing more, but still my doses are low 7 years later, 12 units and 3-4 uds meals.

Interesting.I also think that good control with bolus and food in general play an important role.I will try to lengthen it to the fullest. At the moment I am limiting the CH to the extent of the possible and luckily it is being easy.It seems to me the most comfortable way to avoid crazy peaks.🏔 If I stay like you with little basal and only some fast I already satisfied myself.😁

It is a surprising evolution.I also left insulin overpout hospital;Basal 24 and 8-12-10 fast.Hospital food is a hydrates pump. They give you white bread, cookies, soup very full of noodles for dinner plus a second dish with garrison potatoes. It seemed crazy.I did not eat so many HC before my debut. When I returned home and started eating "my way" I fell in hypoglycemia every day until I reached a more appropriate pattern. Now I try not to go from 8 servings a day and I put 8 slowly, 1.5 at breakfast, zero in food and between 1 and 2 at dinner.
My pancreatic reserve is very low, I believe that the key is that I am very sensitive to insulin. And to sport. To hiking I have to wear a buffet in my backpack because the sugar throws me through the soils.
I am very happy to listen to your testimony and give me hope that with a restrictive diet in HC we can maintain the guy, in the ruthbia line that also has exemplary control.

I'm glad you who are going well in the management of ch.In that year, I have been learning a lot thanks to free2.I have noticed, for example, that if something that Maltitol carries or to a lesser extent aspartame, the glucose remains low but after many hours and especially the next day it rises considerably. And so I create my new habits.I will see that getting good insulin sensitivity is possible thanks to those small changes.I have been very happy in knowing that you maintain the "type" (😄) still many years of the diagnosis. He had the wrong idea that he was always going to need more and more insulin.

@ok_display The idea of needing more insulin over the years is not wrong, over time it comes but it does not have to be in quantities of more than 80. The sport influences, if metabolors carbohydrates to consume them in muscles, you need less insulin. The weight also influences, more insulin weight and over the years there are hormonal changes and usually fluctuate the weight.

Each one chooses the diet that is doing well or fancy according to their lifestyle. The important thing is to have good control and feel healthy.

I understand.I suppose it is part of the body's mechanism as we age.Anyway, I suppose we can slow down this process through sport and diet, as you mentioned.I understand that type 1 can also develop a very high resistance to insulin, which in my view ends up being as having type 1 and type 2 at the same time?😅 Because if that, instead of increasing the dose, it may be more effective to seek to increase the sensitivity to insu before. At least what I have been testing until now applying truquillos to increase it (sensitivity) little by little.

Insulin resistance is not very clear because it comes, in my case it is hormonal, to days and that forces to change dose guidelines.
I think it's men is less noticeable, but I don't know.
If a healthy life is made, some controlled diet and exercise gets along, reducing hydrates on difficult days.

Anyway, a small slavery for life.

The day by day leads to the better as the types of food and amounts influence the glycemia curve. There is no other game set insulin to meals. We more than anything is quantities.
Right with the? Arrival of heat without a nibgun effort, curves are much flatter and eating the same thing in winter a 200 peak is difficult.
Now we can put more cereals bread paste and nothing happens.
Time serves to know and know each other better in this diabetes and play with food

I never entered, although my glycosilada was 16.7% and 293 fasting glucose.
Debute with DM1 with 42 years.But I don't think I had honeymoon.Because I have always used the two insulins.
