Greetings to all.
I have read some posts of users who have undergone sight surgery with successful intraocular lenses.I am diabetic with high mypia in both eyes in one 8 diopters and in the other 12, in addition to enough astigmatism 4.5 in each eye.The other day I told my ophthalmologist if it would be suitable to operate with intraocular lens and he told me that it does not do it because it increases the possibility of causing cataracts.According to him it is better to wait to have a cataract (which seems to be a matter of time, I am 41 years old) and then take the opportunity to fix the cataract and introduce the intraocular lens.
I don't know if someone can corroborate that statement or tell me their experience.Thank you so much

Yes, you are operating intraocular lens, they take away the lens so it is impossible for you to get cataract.

I operate 4 years ago and I am very myopic like you, and great. After operating I also gave me laser (lasik) to take away the little astigmatism I had and also great.

Hi Anaisabel, thank you.Yes, I read the comments about your operation, I didn't know what date they were. But I find what the ophthalmologist told me ... I did not refute it because he is supposed to understand the matter.I will try to find other opinions about it.
Thank you so much

There are several types of lens and specialists will study your eyes and tell you which one is correct for you.
I know there are lenses that do not need to remove the lens so it could leave cataracts, but if the lens remove the cataract, you cannot form.
