Coffee after eating

Hello everyone!

I am new in the forum, although with diabetes I am not so new.I am 20 years old of which 15 with type 1. diabetes still, I still have doubts and problems in which I don't know what to do like the one I come to tell you.

I am a student and in my study routine I always like to drink a cafelito, it also helps me to concentrate better. The problem is that this coffee I usually drink at 4 in the afternoon and always uncontrolled my glucose because at this time I still have an active insulin of noon and that's why I do not usually prick. However, apparently this active insulin is not enough and automatically rises to about 250 or so.

I have tried two options:
1. Click more insulin in food in order to drink coffee: it doesn't work because when coffee time comes I already have hypoglycemia.
2. Click again when I drink coffee but I haven't managed to take the point because it always gives me hypoglycemia again.

Do you think of any solution?

Pd.: I have considered the option to wait later and take it as a snack with some fruit, but the truth is that I would like to continue taking it at the same time.

All the best!

Hello, because it also depends on the type of insulin you wear ... I even went with humalog mixtures and now I have basal+fast and the movie changes completely.

I am a coffee lover and I notice that I get on between +20 and +30 .. I usually take it cut so as not to add a lotof insulin action.

Another trick that can serve you is to put the insulin where I can take effect to get guay to coffee or put the insulin a little later of the food to get to coffee well ... All that you can try it.

Coffee, if I'm not mistaken, does not have carbohydrates. If you do not add anything you cannot raise glycemia.
I take two or three a day and I have no unexpected climb.

I do exactly the same as you, what I do is put insulin in the food taking into account the coffee, as if it were to be the dessert, and then I drank the coffee according to the sugar, if at 3 and little I seeI will end up in hypoglycemia I drink it now, and if I can endure until 4 at 4.

I believe that the problem is the hydrates you are putting with milk and depending on the type of coffee can also have hydrates.Avoid torrefacto and solubles that have hydrates and prove that of natural roasting. You can try sugar -free vegetable milk (soy or almond) that do not usually have hydrates or with a whore. If you like it like that, it is enough for you not to upload.
I drink coffee only very long water and I have no problem, it does not affect anything to glucose.

I took them in the morning and activated my body and insulin and lowered the sugar. It seemed that until I had coffee I was not starting to act on the morning insulin.

You might drink torrefact coffee, which is roasted with sugar.

Change yourself to natural coffee and you should not upload anything.

Hello!Well, I have also had that problem for quite some time.Until I discovered Zero almond milk that does not carry any sugar and hydrates are minimal not to say any.
The one that I like the most is that of a landowner but you have to notice that it is the one that puts Zero.
Taking coffee like this I don't think you have a problem.

I hope to help you :)

In the Mercadona they sell a soy milk with almost no hydrates or also the zero almond milk. The coffee itself does not carry carbohydrates.Although I take the soluble, they must throw something else and do they carry a little ... and to sweeten the saccharin and liquid cyclamate!

Greetings!!

hello!I am new in the forum but expert diabetic.Maybe the best would avoid milk since milk has a natural sugar everything that ends in -ose is sugar (lactose)
If you can't take it without milk, look in the store that milk has less sugar, lactose without

According to an Abbott webinar (in which they even recommended to drink at least 1 coffee a day) for the counts and in order of less to more: coffee only 0 hydrates - coffee with milk cut 0.2 rations - coffee with milk approx 0,8 rations - Bombón Café approx 1.1 rations. But everything depends on quantities. It is not the same as putting the bottom of the stained cup in a chocolate to put 1 finger.
I am very coffee before being diabetic and of course later I still be.Diabetes has to adapt to my life and not vice versa.Of course, common sense, you have to look at the situation, as you find, what are you going to do after food, activity/rest ??? ..... and be consistent with it.
And I think that with 15 years of diabetes, you should know more about the counting of rations and know that coffee has 0 hydrates and will depend on what adds it to it, but in normal circumstances (I have seen people that Bombón coffee add sugar) notIt will be more of 1 ration than with normal activity and in a normal time (moving the normal) will not need extra dose of insulin, whose possible dose, activity and peak action, it will take you to hicc asHe is taking you.

The coffee carries coffeeine apart from being delicious, which activates your alert system, catecholamines and with it your adrenaline among others, your liver releases glucose so that glucose rise, if you do not want to leave it you must compensate it with insulin as it isLogical, in my case I take it out of meals.

Good morning

I know that this topic is quite old, but if someone looks for and finds this message it may serve you

It is important to take into account that there are two types of coffees, the normal and the torrefact and some mix normal with torrefacto

The torrefact has a sugar bath to toast it, therefore, it is possible that if you take the normal you do not have a climb but do you take the torrefact if.

Some torrefactos have up to 19 grams of hydrates per 100g

So yes, coffee has no hydrates and should not be a sugar climb unless you put milk, but it depends on the coffee and if it is torrefact or mixture it can have sugar and not all the torrefact has the same amount and some seem that it seems thatThey have very little

I do not know if it is the torrefact or normal coffee, but what I have detected and I have turned very crazy, is that when I drink coffee, the sensitivity of insulin lower considerably.I have been investigating it and there are some type of people that also happens: look here for example .

The solution, drink only coffee when you have a descent or maybe, to do sports?
