The mayor of Huelva, Gabriel Cruz, has renewed the municipal commitment to the Huelva Diabetes Association, through the signing of an annual agreement in which it is committed to diabetological education to improve the quality of life of these people in the capital.
In this way, the City of Huelva will support the realization of courses, workshops and coexistence destined for the formation, both of the patient, of family members and caregivers.
Gabriel Cruz has highlighted in a statement the work carried out by the Huelva Diabetes Association, highlighting "the essential and fundamental work that develops the third sector to meet the needs and improve the quality of life of many Huelva", pointing out that "they fulfill aBasic, very important function, to cover needs where administrations do not arrive, "so they deserve" the solidarity of the institutions and the commitment of society. "
In this sense, the councilor has assured that "they have the support and commitment of the City of Huelva, through these agreements, to cover and boost their projects."
For its part, the Secretary of the Association, Esther González, explained that "diabetological education has proven to be an essential element in diabetic patient care, since it allows the patient to assume the disease and helps them control it to avoid complications andimprove your quality of life ".
The objective of this training is to promote self -care measures, related to healthy lifestyle, nutrition and diet, rest and sleep, hygiene, exercise, risk factors, diagnosis, treatment and health controls.
It is, as explained from the association, that the patient exercises a leading role in the treatment and control of his diabetes, use or not insulin, integrating a series of care in his daily routine.
