Asking for help 9 years later

Hello,

My name is Paula, I'm 33 years old and I'm from Argentina.I have type 1 diabetes

9 years ago it was my debut.I have gone through several diabetologists and I still can't handle my values.

And I haven't been helpful either, I had restrictive bulimia, I stopped compensating and then only ate

In the last 4 years I have rose very much weight, about 30 kilos.

Only this year I learned to handle my diet, and I have made a complete change.

But I can't lose weight, or if I do it up a week.Nor control my values.

I use Optisulim at night for 36 units, and corrective novorapid.

I have noticed that at dawn I have many hypoglycemia, and that in lunch I usually climb me for more than I keep a lunch without carbohydrates almost.

I was thinking of changing the optosulin at 10u at 12 noon and 10u before sleeping.

I have an almost immovable routine
- 9 am: breakfast: mate and 2 toasted with cheese and seeds (it is where I am less hungry)
- 12 am: Fixed bike half an hour
- 2 PM: Lunch: lettuce, tomato, carrot, egg, seeds and mayonnaise light (I can change the egg for a small dike)
- 6 pm: snack: fruit
- 8:30 pm: fixed bike.half an hour
- 10 pm: dinner: here consumption carbohydrates and vegetables

What do you think?

I really need advice.

Thank you!

The first thing you have to do is focus on a good diabetological control and once you get that, then think about losing weight if you have plenty.Anyway, an endocrine has to advise you, we cannot guide you a treatment or diet.

@Miss_Dreams

Apart from which you consult your endocrine or a nutritionist, just some comments in case they help you

You have little breakfast!I know that you are not much hungry but it is one of the main meals of the day.Add yogurt and fruit. And egg from time to time.

Dinner I don't understand what carbohydrates.Vegetables are carbohydrates but very slow action. In general, make very light dinners, vegetables with a little fish or chicken.

About sport you do, you should not do the same every day.The body gets used. And the bike fixed except that you make many rhythm changes (for example a minute at maximum intensity and then two minutes more slowly) spends very few calories. And the truth half an hour is very little time! The exercise varies. One day race if you can or a long walk.Another musculation day.Another day a class in the Gym.The more varied the better.

All the best

@Miss_Dreams, when you say you use fast insulin as corrective, do you mean you put it before each meal or only when are you high?
The normal thing is that a flat and fast insulin be used before each meal, taking into account the carbohydrates you eat.
I do not know the slow insulin you get, but if you have hypoglycemia at night, you are getting too slow.
Comment with the endocrine the slow insulin, so that it puts a flat, which is the most current, and a fast before each meal.

Thank you all for your answers. If I go to endo, in fact in 9 years I have changed 4 times. But nobody explains anything to me.For example I correct myself (apply the fast) after meals, and here I read that it is before.Nobody told me how much of the whole day place myself, I have been doing it at "sight."
Only this year I started counting carbohydrates.
I think that in my city the endo are not the best, or they do not feel like explaining, or I have not managed to find the right one.So I'm learning where I manage to find information and my personal experience

Why should hydrates eliminate at night? It has been shown that half an hour of exercise is equally effective as more time:

Researchers at the University of Copenhagen have shown that 30 minutes of daily training provide a loss of weight and body mass equally effective as in twice the time.

An investigation of the University of Copenhagen concludes that performing 30 minutes of Cardio has the same effect on weight loss as twice as much time after monitoring, using a heart rate monitor and a calorie counter, for 13 weeks to aGroup of 60 overweight men.

The results of the investigation, pressed at the Link QuestModify the body mass index (BMI).The researchers divided the subjects into DS groups: one completed training sessions (running, bike and rowing) of 30 minutes, while the other did so for one hour.

"On average, the men who exercised 30 minutes a day lost 3.6 kilos in three months, while those who exercised for a full hour only lost 2.7 kg. The reduction in body mass was approximately 4 kg for both groups"reports Mads Rosenkilde, main author of the investigation.

"The participants who exercised 30 minutes per day burned more calories than they allegedly owed in relation to the training program we established them. In fact, we could verify that exercising for a full hour instead of half does not provide any lossadditional neither in body weight nor in fat.Rosenkilde.
Training load similar to WHO recommendation

For researchers the difference, or the absence of it, can respond to what to perform 30 minutes of exercise is an affordable objective that promotes the desire of the participants to do even more physical activity. It is also likely that those who did an hour of exercise ate more because of what the weight loss was less than the one planned.

"The participants in our study trained every day for three months. All training sessions were planned to produce a slight sweat, but the subjects increased the intensity at least three times a week," says Rosenkilde

The participants in the study, who belong to a wide percentage of the Danish population with light overweight, sought a change of lifestyle with the help of physical training, and in the study period, were closely followed by the researchers, having aSpecial emphasis on energy balance, insulin resistance and blood hormones.

What is clear is that the results show that the recommendations of the World Health Organization, which suggests completely completing at least 150 per week, are a good starting point to improve many health -related aspects.

30 minutes may seem anything, but it is what I can do with obesity and starting a healthy life.It has only been 4 meals for 3 months (before or around 1 or ate all day) and exercise (I started with 10 minutes, and before I was sitting all the time).I want to do more!I would love to make a marathon, but the body does not give me.Little by little, and one day I will get it :)

Courage, you will see that with effort the exercise is paying off and you will increase your ratios and results.Of course, always in moderation and without doing crazy things.I thought it was impossible and over a single year the progression is very significant.I started for 15 minutes and I can stay more than an hour. The body responds but you should never put it to the limit.

@Miss_Dreams with patience and constancy you will get it.
The best thing is that an endocrine.
Fast insulin always 15 min before eating. You measure glycemia, calculate how many rations of hydrates you are going to eat and you put the dose.
As you still do not know the insulin/rations HC ratio, it measures glycemia again 2 hours after having eaten, you should be between 80 and 140mg/dl.
For slow insulin, you have to see what value you have of glycemia when you wake up in the morning. If you are between 80-140, you are well regulated.
By reducing meals you may be putting a lot of slow.

@Miss_Dreams

You are on the right track!

It is clear that in your city you have bad luck with the endocrine. But because of what I see, you are interested in controlling diabetes and redirecting your weight. That is the most important thing. You will have to be very patience.Keep regular and controlled meals as you do and continue with the sport. You will see how soon you can increase the exercise time and the weight will fall. But it is very important that you do it very gradually and do not feel that you are diet.Like everything and do not stay hungry. To satisfy the best are vegetables. But don't forget about proteins.Eat meat (turkey, chicken) eggs and fish. The more varied, the better.

For exercise, I propose a very simple but effective thing for the fixed bike. After heating about 10-15 minutes do intervals. The idea is that you pedal as fast as you can for a minute and then lower the intensity for two or three minutes until you recover.Do that for 8 times. You improve resistance capacity. The first times do only 4 or 6 intervals in a row. Then go to 8. You'll see

Anything you need asks and I hope we can answer you

Hi @Miss_Dreams,

Much encouragement, surely you get it.On the hypoglycemia you detect at dawn, do you get up then well?I understand that you notice something and take sugar or some carbohydrate, right? How many rations of carbohydrates Dinner? How much fast insulin do you put on?You can do one thing, take right (just before bedtaking for example a glass of skim or similar milk, for example I take half a glass of milk with a Neapolitan cookie).Another option would be that you reduce the insulin that you are injected into dinner, there are some that allow half units with average unity units less depending on how your hypoglycemia may be sufficient.

It is best to prick insulin before meals so that the glucose curve is as flat as possible.

Anything here you have us.
