The ‘Diabetes Zero’ Foundation launches the challenge ‘The return to Spain for diabetes: kilometers for diabetes’.

According to themselves, “the current situation has forced us all to adapt quickly and learn to manage our activities differently.

Therefore, Diabetescer and Association Madrid will develop a virtual challenge of 2 months, with the aim of offering a healthy, unique and differentiating experience to its participants, in addition to capturing funds, generating impact, relevance and notoriety in thesociety".

What are the characteristics of the project?

• The virtual challenge will last 2 months: from September 12 to November 14, 2020, it can be participated through a platform created by the organizers.

• The mission of the challenge will be to connect the 17 cities (from Seville to Madrid) in a virtual way using Google Street View technology.Every time a section is completed and a locality we will show a postcard with images, videos and content of interest on that town, which we can also connect with the 17 SDGs.

• Each participant will be able to carry out the way individually or by teams.Although the challenge is considered collaborative and non -competitive, we will show an individual and teams of all participants, in addition to the accumulated in steps and kilometers traveled among all.You can participate in daily activity modalities, walk, run, cycling and swim.

What is the purpose of the challenge?

• Get funds to continue supporting research for the cure of type 1 diabetes.
• Promote healthy habits to maintain a strong immune system.
• Educate and give visibility to diabetes
• Unify and involve all our headquarters, volunteers and society, around a common project, wherever they are.
• Support and strengthen the health and safety of people with diabetes at the time of COVID-19.
• Offer an entertaining and motivating platform, where to inform and sensitize about diabetes.Create engagement through the game.
• Make known the 17 sustainable development objectives while virtually traveling Spain.

Who forms the ‘Diabetes Zero’ Foundation?

It is a foundation formed by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, adults DT1 and scientists who work for a world without diabetes type 1. They finance scientific projects for the cure of type 1 diabetes. Currently their NGO consists of17 Delegations distributed throughout the national territory and are the seventh Spanish Foundation in the RRSS ranking.

Diabetescero believes in scientists.Scientists investigate so that society has a better quality of life and it is society who must claim and support research.
