It is based on hive wax and virgin honey, which have antiseptic and disinfectant properties.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in the world there are more than 400 million adults with diabetes, a figure that increased more than triple in 30 years. That is why any technological advance to combat this disease is welcome.

One of the last inventions in relation to diabetes is a revolutionary honey patch that would avoid amputations in patients suffering from this condition.

It was created by a group of CEST scientists, the Tepeaca Higher Studies Center in Puebla (Mexico), which obtained positive results in patients with wounds caused by diabetes.

It must be remembered that one of the complications of diabetes are the wounds that it costs to heal, those that are not treated carefully can end up in the amputation of a limb.

«The idea arose from a group of students from the CEST in order to know the health problems caused by diabetes and for this research implemented bee honey. The surprise was rewarding since, thanks to the patches with honey, the amputations of the patients could be avoided, ”says Acevedo Méndez, one of the researchers.

The revolutionary patch is based on hive wax and virgin honey, which have antiseptic and disinfectant properties, which helps heal the wounds produced by diabetes.

«What matters to school and hospital managers is that people have adequate and free treatment, in order not to amputate members and that the person continues to use themselves. We already patented it and we want the product to be one hundred percent poblano, so it will not be sold to any pharmaceutical laboratory, we want to be accessible to the population that lacks resources and therefore does not follow a treatment, ”says Méndez.

The invention was already patented and is not among the plans to sell the production rights to any pharmaceutical laboratory, since the objective is that this type of treatment is to the access of the population that does not have the necessary resources.

Honey has been used for a long time for the treatment of ulcers. It is based on the principle that the high osmolarity of honey does not allow bacterial growth. The first time I saw its use was at the beginning of the 80s in the surgery room of Sant Pau Hospital.

Many years ago.Unfortunately, thediabetics are still a problem. And it is that honey can be a tool in the hands of the surgeon to avoid overfecting but the basic problem, neurovascular pathology, today only prevents good glycemic control day if and day too.
