Aid!Gain weight with type 1 diabetes, how?

criss_tina46's profile photo   06/03/2020 11:17 p.m.

Hello good!

I introduce myself, I am Cristina and I would like anyone who could give me some advice.

First of all I have no diabetes, but my father.

He has been with a treatment for 6 years, does not have to puncture, only take 3 types of medication a day (Metformin, Adiro and another that I do not remember before dinner). From the beginning he has a very good control of his meals and thanks to that he has not had to change his treatment, his profiles always go very well.

The only problem is that since it started with this disease and as many happens to them, it lost a lot of weight. In these months something else has moved and has stayed in 60kg.He stays there but he would like to win a couple of kilos safely and win some muscle mass because everything is great xD.
Health is fine, and is very active. They recommended physical exercise from the beginning and fulfills it, but how the day is up and down for their work gives me the feeling that what he eats spends everything🤦🏼‍♀️

If anyone could give me some guidelines to take into account or to add to meals, more or less so that I could transmit you.

Thank you all, and I hope you are all well !!

I believe that what interests him is to gain muscle and not fat mass and for that the most important thing is to do a good weight training.Ideally, a coach is scheduled, but if you can't there are videos on YouTube with routines that explain different exercises.I really like Sergio Peinado's channel, has fast routines without material that are very good.Or Fittness Revolutionary programs are also very good to do at home without hardly any material, they have one called unleashed that is done with your own body weight and is perfect to start.
The key is to make a progressive overload and in that way the body generates muscle mass to adapt. It is also important to eat enough protein and increase the calories that are consumed so that the body can use that excess in generating muscle.
Another important thing is rest, which is when the body recovers, sleeping enough hours is fundamental.Being constant in training results are achieved.Men also have it easier, they have a hard time gaining muscle for testosterone.

Thank you very much Yesics, I found some of those exercises that I think they could serve you.The only thing is that he has never done exercises like that and I don't know if I will know how much he has to eat more to be able to do them.Nor do I want you to give you a dizziness or something, and right now it has zero patatero muscle mass.

But to start it helps me the tips 🙂.

All the best!!

You have to start little by little and focus at the beginning to learn the technique well to avoid injuries. You can tell you to start with the basics and simpler in terms of technique such as flexions, squats ... with your own body weight or even easier. The flexions can be done with the knees supported or against a wall if you do not have enough strength to lift your own weight and gradually progress. The squatillas if you can not with your own weight can be put on a chair and sit and get up and gradually go to do them without a chair and over time. There are videos on YouTube explaining the technique in detail and then you can record and check if you are doing well.Sergio Peinado has several videos explaining the technique of some exercises and Powerexposive have many more also in which he explains everything in detail.
The eating more is that it is a bit complicated because it is not something that can be calculated easy.At the beginning the same with climbing the protein a little comes, they are normally calculated in GR of protein per kg of weight, but it will not be weighing all the food and calculating. With which to eat enough protein in the main foods sure that it arrives. Then you can do some more adjustments as evolution is seeing. If you see that you gain weight and look more force, you are gaining muscle and are doing things right. If you do not see progress in a time, you can go looking for more information to make other adjustments.Normally beginners progress quickly at the beginning if they are constant.

But is it possible to have diabetes 1 only with treatment and without clicking ???I had never heard that was possible.Does anyone know anything about this?

Hi Flavio!
I might ask my father but I'm sure he doesn't have much more information 🤣
Of course, I understand that there are variations within the types of diabetes.
He takes 3 types of pills a day and eats very very strict, and always after eating they recommend doing some kind of physical activity. He has been thus controlling his levels for more than 6 years.I hope someone knows how to tell you something more 😉.

Hello Criss, what you mention is compatible with diabetes 2 that is not a dependent insulin.Your father's case would be the first one I know. From there my question was born because I consider it a unique case. All the best.

If so, tomorrow I ask my mother that she is the one who speaks most with her nurse, maybe I am wrong but they had always told me that it was type 1. Thank you for the info! And thanks also for all the tips, will soon start with a training to see if this wins muscle mass 💪🏻

Criss, what I can tell you is that, without pricking insulin, the exercises normally designed to gain muscle mass, where appropriate they will have exactly the opposite effect, that is, they will reduce more the muscle mass that you have left.

And the reason is that without sufficient insulin in the bloodstream it is impossible to process the foods it consumes and convert them into muscle or store them into fat.

I understand ... Maybe it would be better even if you go through your endocrine to see what you recommend. From what I see does not seem as simple as eating more and lifting weights 😪.Hopefully we can find the key someday 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣.

Thank you!!

Good, as you have already dropped, I also understand that it will be type 2 diabetes, it would be the first case that I know TB of type one without insulin.
For what I can tell you having type one for more than a year and a half, and being thin I lost kilos and I have barely been able to recover something, I also like running, swimming ... but as enough and I lowered the intensityFrom the cardio, increasing exercises for muscle mass and I have barely recovered something. It is also that I already with 43 years go to undergo weights, coaches and schedules, I prefer to enjoy the sport.
Greetings

hello.I am not a specialist on the subject, much less, but I understand that in diabetes 1 the body does not produce insulin. In diabetes 2 the body produces little insulin or is resistant to it.

Therefore, in diabetes 1 insulin must be injected, there is no insulin.

In diabetes 2, there are medications to improve insulin absorption ...

Maybe the patient is type 2 diabetic, no type 1. I think, personal opinion.

@CRUSS_TINA46

It is clear that it has diabetes 2.

Well 60 kg of weight can be high or low depending on height and structure. If it measures 160-170 cm and is not of muscular structure is probably well weight. The best thing is to speak to your endocrine.I measure 168 and weight between 62 and 63 kg and do sports very regularly. Both Cardio and Core. But I do not make an strict musculation.

To gain weight, I would have to increase non -saturated fats (sardines, salmon, blue fish, nuts, almonds, linen seeds, olive oil, avocado), proteins (eggs, chicken, turkey) and also complex carbohydrates (vegetables, seeds). That combined with musculation exercises.

Ideally, talk to a nutritionist

Thank you very much for the comments!
I have always thought that I was type two, because I also know that he has little insulin but something has. What I don't know is why your doctor always tells my mother that she is an intermediate guy ...
They will try to go to the endocrine and also see if they put a slightly more specific diet so that training can start.
Anyway, his nurse has also told me that the thin being comes from family and it is true ... my grandfather and my uncle are super thin, and also how the movement is burning all day.

Thank you very much and I'll tell you if you get your goal 🤣💪🏻💪🏻

All the best!

Greetings!

Have they not tried to change doctor?I share that if it is type 1 it would be the first case that I know that I do not use insulin ... I tell you my case, I am 32 years old and I have type 1 dibetes since the age of 2.In my 30 years of illness whenever I lost weight it was not having the proper treatment (little insulin) or I did not care enough. In the only way I managed to gain weight was when I managed to find the amount of daily insulin I needed.
Greetings from Argentina!
