Good afternoon,

Diabetes have just been diagnosed (in principle lada, although I am missing some results to confirm it).

I currently have the option of treating me for social or private security, specifically with Sanitas.

I am totally rookie on the subject and I would like to know your opinion and experiences both in Social Security and in Sanitas in order to opt for one option or another.

Thanks in advance and a cordial greeting.

If you are in Muphaz you can choose., but being diabetic the follow -up they take you very well in social security, with all necessary visits and material.

I debut in Sanitas and the emergency endocrine that attended me recommended the SS because Sanitas does not cover the medications, the glucose strips or needles or lancets. And they are very expensive things.Insulin are 85 Eur the boxes.

That same day I went to the header and started the file via emergencies (income, it is the protocol)
That does not mean that you go to an endocrine for Sanitas in parallel for monitoring.

The header will give you the diabetic material (strips, lancets and needles for insulins), the header makes the insulin recipe (electronic ask for it) and the endocrine the quarterly monitoring or as he/she considers.

Uso Toujeo y Novorapid.

Look well if you have private health that you attend well all specialties, and that the hospitals you have are competent. Here in Cartagena, for example, private health is fatal without real means, they have no comparison in social security technology, that if the best private specialists. But for example, if I have a heart attack, they send me in ambulance to Murcia at 50 km, that is, I can die along the way, with a heart theme there is nothing in this city, do not look only in the subject diabetes but in everything in everythingthat could arise.

I am also from MuFACE, when I debuted I was in DKV.The care received (diabetological education) left much to be desired, and as far as the material is concerned, although they have the obligation to deliver the same to which you have access to the National Health System: lancets, needles, strips, glucometer, insulin, insulin, pumps and fungible material of them ... They threw back everything they could, especially in reactive lancets and strips; They came to give me 6 lancet for a whole month with the excuse that they had no more.Imagine how the fingers of reusing them ended ...

That, and that I had to go every three weeks for the reactive strips to the other side of Madrid, made me change to Social Security: there, Excellent Diabetological Education (in my case at the Hospital de la Paz), and the materialThe health center is facilitated (it is always closer) with monthly periodicity.I have no complaint, quite the opposite, I think they do more tests and the follow -up is infinitely better and closer than with mutuals, in addition to having more and better means, and this is already my opinion, better professionals.

For me there is no color.

Thank you very much for the information. At the moment I have had an appointment with Sanitas and the attention has been very good. They have given me glucometer (contour Next One) and some lancetas and needles (Insulina at the moment I do not need).

In a couple of days I have an appointment in Social Security and I will see with which of the two I "stayed" or if I continue with both in parallel, but for now my experience with Sanitas, yes brief, it has been good.

@Alantar, my experience with mutual is that all endocrinologists only know of diabetes 2. nor p *** Idea of diabetes 1.
The height, nor in the great hospitals of Barcelona I found a specialist who put the insulin bomb.I continue in the mutual because my reference hospital in Social Security is very poor.

Debut 46 â- 2012. DM1. Celiaquía e intolerancia lactosa. Anemia perniciosa.
MiniMed 640g + SmartGuard.
